Do you think Sonic's friends like Tails, Knuckles, and Amy could work in one of the 3D Boost games, or would that style of gameplay ONLY be suited for Sonic himself (and others that can keep up with him, like possibly Shadow and Blaze)?

They mentioend that over years, Sonic's definitely gotten a lot faster in his transition from Classic to Modern. A great canon example is how he can beat Perfect Chaos without any need of his Super Form.
Do exactly what the Geneses/Advanced games did; make them Sonic with gimmicks, and add a few unique stage assets that are unique to that character
Heck, the other boos games add in new stage elemtns for their recycled missions already, just use that effort to instead have small branching bits for each character, while having the core stage the same
Like air boosters for tails that allow him to reach a few suspended platforms, or areas beneath the stage that knuckles can drill down towards ala the drill wisp etc
