They try to start full on conversations with him, get curious about shit he does with the runes, and they even eat crickets if you toss them to them. Theyll also get pissed off at eachother if two of them go for the same cricket and one gets it before the other.

In BotW you are actually playing a terrorist that is part of a terrorist group. A war happened over 100 years ago and the creatures of hyrule won over the alliance of the hylians, gorons, etc.

Since then for the most part there has been peace to the realm with the exception of a few locations. You can see the creatures casually chatting, hunting for their food, dancing and having fun. Then Link just ruins their peace by slaying them.

Link in BotW is no different to Bin Laden.
