People think IGA is the man that spearheaded the direction of MetroidVania when he wasn't. He was only the Assistant Director of Symphony of the Night and will tell you himself that SotN was not his creation at all. It was Hagihara's game.

It was only with Harmony of Dissonance that IGA took charge of the series. Everything from Harmony up to Ecclesia was him as Producer/writer. He wasn't the Director, he wasn't in charge of game design. He was mostly the guy that the team brought ideas and game builds to and he either okayed it or asked for change. It's why his track record is so fucking weird. For every Aria like masterpiece, there was a Judgment or a Curse of Darkness. He was only ever as good as the team he had actually making the game itself.

It actually doesn't matter in the slightest that IGA is working on Bloodstained. What matters is the team that is working on it. The only other two Konami devs returning are Shutaro Iida (programmer, planner) who did programming for the handheld games and directed Harmony of Despair, and composer Michiru Yamane. Will they be enough? The majority of the game is made by Inti Creates but they don't have Castlevania experience. Their their last game was Mighty Number 9. They're a good dev team for 2D handheld titles, but they struggle with 3D and Unreal Engine. You can see they're having problems with how delayed the game is. IGA has had to bring both DICO and Monobit on board to help complete the game. When a game needs THREE development teams just to complete, alarm bells should be sounding.

If IGA was smart, he would have used Artplay (his new studio) and got his old Aria/Dawn/Portrait/Ecclesia team back for Bloodstained instead of using Inti-Creates. He should have aimed for 2D and 3DS. That way they could have made cheap low resolution 3DS titles, maybe a trilogy, with one coming out per year. He didn't. He went for full 3D and 2.5D and consoles.

Well, the 3d titles weren't that bad and most stuff that IGA worked on was very well received. He's not the main man behind the metroidvania titles but considering the demo for bloodstained, the game seems pretty good gameplay wise so far.

They appear to still be working on the voice acting for the E3 demo. The fact that they have something new to show gives me hope that things are proceeding well.

Kojima (the artist) was unavailable unfortunately. So they had to use Inti-Creates in-house artists, who only do moe girl garbage.

Though not as famous, they should ahve gotten the order of ecclessia artist. He's great. It's stylized without looking ridiculous. Some realism but some stylization.

I never got why people hate Judgment. As a non-canon title that was never meant to be taken seriously, it's pretty fun. The only gripe gameplay-wise is that supers take off half of the life bar and have no input barrier (literally just press X)

It's a wasted opportunity. The characters are so different, it is a non-Castlevania game with the name applied.

Imagine if Ninty made the new "Smash Bros" game, but all the characters looked nothing like the actual characters. Mario was a 7 foot skeleton man who threw fireballs. Luigi was a 4 foot goblin with knives. Would fans be happy?

The idea of a Castlevania fighting game is neat.
