>Every single modern day 3D tycoon/management sim/city builder game is either pure shit or barely passable with deep flaws

Fucking kill me
When will my genre return to glory?
>>
You don't like planet coaster?
>>
>>377022782
Rushed, unoptimized, and shallow.
>>
the old roller coaster tycoon games are pure shit.

World is unironically better than rct2

>>377023706

This is a bad opinion in my opinion, but I still love you.
>>
You where saying OP?
>>
>>377023857
manages to be shallower than the game it's essentially a remake of
virtually 0 replay value in a god damn management game
>>
>>377023774
no

rct and rct2 are shit

they are ugly games with shallow sense of park creation. the building aspect is atrocious. every park by 99% of players ends up being the same halfbaked dirt path maze of sporadic rides with unrealistic stations and lines, with the occasional square box building by veteran builders

Only those that hack the game within an inch of it's life and spend literal years hand placing custom made building block scenary can manage to make a park that doesn't feel dead and soulless.

The death of Maxis and Bullfrog completely killed the sim genre as a legitimate game genre. Look at the trash being put out now - "Farm Simulator", "Car Mechanic Simulator", etc. These are low budget, nearly shovelware things that a company like Maxis never would have released.
>>
>>377024223
I'm sorry you can't build anything good but that does not make it a bad game. People who know what they're doing have a good time with rct.

Everyone who reads your post knows you're wrong and clinging to you childhood game

This. Game isn't even fucking playable past 2.5k guests. I got a pretty decent computer and yet it fucking dips down to 15 - 20 fps. I barely get 60 fps when everything is low/off and park is empty.
I know I got a shit CPU and if you're wondering about the temperature it's because I was playing a game + I haven't cleaned my computer in almost a year.

Have you ever seen a real park where ever station was just uncovered on the ground, with a tiny little outhouse entrance next to it?

A real park has a building associated with the main attraction rollercoasters. RCT's piss poor building mechanics allow ugly square buildings. This was attempted to be remedied in the awful RCT2 expansions, but the buildings blocks were attrocious and samey.
>>
>>377023348
I give you unoptimized but PC has a shitload of content.
Even more so if you download custom stuff from the community site.
>>
>>377026048
it's not the game's fault you're imaginatively bankrupt
>>
>>377022674
>he hasnt played openrct2, the perfected theme park simulator
>>
>>377026048
you can turn off entrances completely in openrct2 and build your own
>>
>>377024223
Except the visuals and sound effects on RCT are kino.

That age will likely never be back in full force. Players don't have the patience to understand how to manage complex systems and optimize them like they used to.

Due to financial, time, and park size constraints you are forced to abandon pristine designer level beauty for economic efficiency. In levels where everything is free and/or you aren't trying to beat the objective you can spend the time and researching scenery to build something more aesthetically pleasing.
>>
As huge fan of RCT 1 and 2

was super disappointed in planet coaster

that said I hear cities skylines is a good simcity heir, or is that shit too?

The ability to interact deeply with transit systems and not have grid cities only barely makes up for the fact that the game is piss-easy and can allow you to have everything you want always.

What do you even mean by this?
The only RCT game that was more complex and in depth regarding rides than PC was 3.

In 1 & 2 you could build coasters that were completely fine by the game's system but would murder anyone riding it in real life.

out of curiosity what's your gripe with cities: skylines?
>>
>>377027417
What I mean by this is that what makes RCT good is not that it can build roller coasters better than Planet Coaster. What makes it good is that the game is an effective sim of building and managing an amusement park.

Where one is a thoughtful game of working withing constraints to achieve a goal, Planet Coaster is more or less a series of sandboxes that let you make pretty rides but doesn't press you to make trade-offs or interesting decisions to meet goals.
>>
>>377023348
they still haven't fixed the optimization?
that's the one thing keeping me from the game

What do you guys think of Block'hood?
>>
>>377027678
Oh. Yeah that definitely is true.
PC is more of a general coaster and park creation game while RCT is a park and sim manager.

I don't mind the former but I really would love if something would tackle that side of RCT eventually.

Unity
>>
>>377027760
It runs much better than it used to but once you have a certain amount of objects and people in your park, it will start to lag even if you have a high end PC.
That's because they put way too much effort in creating ''realistic'' people doing all sorts of things that don't really need to be simulated.
It requires a lot of CPU power eventually.

The last fucking Golf Resort management Sim that was fun was Sid Meier's Sim Golf. It's pretty fun, and the highest difficulties create some real challenge in the beginning.

Unfortunately, it's locked at 800x600 resolution.

This game had flaws:
• Hole rating system is rather unintuitive and required some online research to truly understand it. Then, once you understand it, it reveals itself to be wonky and unpredictable even with liberal use of the shot analysis tool whilst building.
• Maps were too small to easily manage building large courses, so you had to compromise many times

Planet coaster might be good after a couple of expansions and eventually being able to import models.

It needs more rides/attractions and deeper management aspects. The new security features make it seem like that might be listening to the people asking for it.
>>
Man I'd love to have another city builder like the Ceaser, Pharaoh and Zeus games.
Last game I heard was like that was Lethis or something but I hear it had problems.
>>
That feel when the indie retro graphics movement didn't spread to isometric style tycoon games.
