Because it has the best scaling of any weapon in the entire game. It's damage is through the roof, it staggers the fuck out of everything and its untricked form is fast and effective.

The only weapon that comes close to the crazy 750+ damage that Ludwig's Holy Blade can do, is the Moonlight Greatsword from Ludwig himself in the DLC.

This is the reason why /v/. hates the LHB, it's simply so powerful that it makes the more interesting weapons redundant.
