Game advancement has reached a dead end.
Consoles and interactive cinematic experiences killed games.

A modern X-Com with properly destructible environments would be great.

Try Battlefield: Bad Company. Literally everything is destructible except for stair cases.

Fuck all three of you.

Silent Storm has great destruction and it came out in fucking 2003. Every building is completely destructible and you can shoot or blow down doors and stuff, as well as shooting people through them.

It's not even a technical issue, just devs not wanting to implement it for various reasons.

You kind of do both in Red Faction: Guerilla

The industry is shit because they know that they can release a borken game and people will pay 60-100 USD for it. Would you work hard if you know that you can get pay for doing nothing? That's how they think.

I would assume it would. Especially if it's an indie game with no multiplayer.

I barely see really small games cracked on trackers, and they sell just as much on Steam.
Big ones get pirated to hell but also bought to hell, like Isaac, Terraria, Risk of Rain, Stardew, so on and so forth.
There's no way to make a realistic study on piracy though, since it'd be biased in a way or another no matter what, all I can say is that I've personally pirated a good chunk of games and bought them them I had money/they were on sale. Not everyone is gonna do this, of course, but I think the number of people who do do this (and idiots who buy games blind or just because it was cheap) is big enough.

Heroes of Annihilated Empires
Dominions

Silent Storm

Well of course it takes performance but we have games that have done good destruction so it's not like devs aren't doing it because it's not possible or it makes the game unplayable.

I mean there's this tech demo that's many years old and nothing's been done with it still.

I see your point. I also admittedly do this myself as well. Usually in some form or another I end up buying the game anyway if I like it. Theoretically, would you think a game would sell better if it was uncrackable? Or would it sell better because people would pirate a game to see if they like it and then possibly they purchase it later on?

You're asking for a bunch of niche things that only a select group of gamers want. Ask for things in the action and adventure genres. And complain about how those things aren't being done.

>You're asking for a bunch of niche things that only a select group of gamers want.
Gee kind of like how all early video games were niche things that only a select part of society wanted to play.

> Ask for things in the action and adventure genres.
No.

>And complain about how those things aren't being done.
Why? I don't play those games.

Show me a computer with infinite memory, because that's what you would need to solve this

How about I show you a game from 1998, that did exactly that without infinite memory?
>>
>>376987705
FUCKYOU!
>>
>>376991713
But anon, modern game design takes up too much processing power and memory to be able to do things that games did in the past.
