Don't listen to this salty little nigglet, OP. EYE has a story you can pretty much ignore, but the gameplay is great, you're given a shitload of weapons and abilities to kill dudes in pretty absurd ways.
Towards the end game you can get an ability that lets you telefrag anyone in your crosshairs, you also have access to a minigun and a sword that causes explosions on hit at the start of the game. Granted you'll take a massive speed penalty for packing the minigun at early game because you're not very strong and your legs aren't upgraded, but you can still use it.

The game can be a little on the repetitive side but if the idea of mowing down demons and other assholes with guns, augmenting the shit out of your body to go super fast, and hacking people's brains sounds fun to you, you should get it. Co-op is a thing too and it's pretty good with a friend or two, especially when you start horse-assing around and either hack your friend so they lose all of their energy and have a big popup on their screen, or use triangle gate and vaporize them for the eighth time.
basically it's fun

I feel like I should have paid full price. The story feels big because everything is so confusing. There are general themes, but you can tell there is much more hidden behind what's given.

Ever since I went through all the cycles, I can't stop speedrunning every map I play.

Especially since I actually hate the combat. I think 99% of the guns sound cool but are absolutely shit to shoot, like most of the automatics.

Have you tried the aiming augment?
You could also invest a lot of points in accuracy since it boosts firearm damage and helps with the crosshairs.
I did find that a lot of the guns were fairly lackluster compared to just plain objectively better weapons. There's also something screwy with how the crosshairs work and I've begun using sniper rifles like shotguns thanks to it.
