What is the saddest vidya moment you've experienced? It doesn't even have to be something story-related, it could be something that happened during gameplay.

What the fuck thats not my pic.
MODS
when i was playing Spec Ops: The Line I had already heard all the hubbub about "SO DEEP" and "mfw the white phosphorus" and shit like that, so I went in expecting something like that. Game is good but it also has a lot of overly dramatic stuff in it. I also sort of roleplay as a generic good guy in these type of games, I usually only be bad when I have no intention of taking a game seriously.
But one part during the final sequences when you keep hallucinating and the manikins are coming to life, there was a moment where I was shooting anything that moved. I went down a corridoor and shot a woman who was fleeing. Cold blood. No hallucinations, just a fast trigger finger. My heart skipped a beat when that happened and I took a few minutes paused kind of just thinking about it.
Still have no idea if they intended for you to shoot her or not and that's why it bothers me.
When I realized Viewtiful Joe 2 will never get a sequel to resolve the story.
Twice as bright

All of Nier Gestalt
I can't go more than 10 minutes without feeling depressed
Gravity Rush 2 ending
hmmmm,
final fantasy 15.
not really because of the story, sure its nice the two of them can be together in that final moment forever, despite really the entire cast dying,
but its more because i spent 80 hours running around doing things in a world i could never revisit except in a memory. what a pointless game.

Honestly? Really, totally honestly? Red Rescue team's ending. After your partner sacrifices everything and promises to always be there for you when everyone else tries to pin you to a crime you didn't commit, the way he says 'we should be with other people' afterwards kind of broke my heart.

I knew what Mother 3's ending was, and it still fucked me up. Same with Agro's death in SotC
>>376963515
but anonagro doesn't die
>>376963832
Right, sorry, I meant Wander. Although Agro's "Death" still shook me up to even though I knew about it too.
Might not be the saddest, but its the most recent. Altera's ending in Extella fucked me up.

Actually now that I think about it, Nero's route was pretty depressing too

Visiting and leaving Link's grandma in Wind Waker will never not make me sad because of how personal it feels to me. Mostly when you find out she's sick.I love my grandmother very much.
When reading Rosalina's Storybook, and reaching the part whereher mother is revealed to be dead. This song didn't help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNxRNSCGvaY
The fact that this was in a Mario game of all places...
Chiron's death in Age of Mythology, if only because they waited so long before they killed someone on my party. Usually in games where they do that they start killing characters earlier on so the possibility doesn't blindside you as badly.
When your favorite MMORPG shuts down
Tbh when rabbit died in moh or what
You'll never save her.
Nier Automata, when 9S visits the Soul Box in route C/DWhen he hacked the core of the Soul Box only to find himself in front of all his memories of 2B, including 2B "herself" in his mind, and then has to watch all of them being corrupted and deleted, and after trying to fight the virus, ends up stabbing his representation of 2B to death, while crying, then laughing maniacally
The only Kingdom Hearts game to have any actual emotion between characters, 358/2 days
Anytime a character in Ace Attorney genuinely cries and not as a character expression
In particular, Young Kay and School Juniper

You're so naive, Anon.
>>376960186
The normal ending to 999 was a definite feels tripSnake didn't deserve to die the way he did
>>376964985
that game is fucking retarded and if you actually got sad over it you have no fucking standards in writing.
>>376965406
>It's a game for kids so you're retarded if you get emotional over it

Saria dumping Link and turning into the forest sage.
That and EOE.
1998 was a hard year.
>>376965572
it doesn't have to be a kids game to have shitty writing and guess what the KH series has tons of shitty writing.
>>376960186
The ending of Link's Awakening.
I only played it this year but that was a real sad way to conclude things. Seeing the glimpses of the town people before they vanish after getting to know them, just heart breaking. I went back to replay it immediately when I found out I could save Marin and enjoyed it even more. Still sad about the ending, bittersweet.
Another close one was Puyo Puyo Tetris. Ringo clearly likes Tee and they are about to be seperated due to dimensions redividing. They promise not to say goodbye in the hopes they will meet each other again.

In Majora's Mask, the part where the girl's dad was transformed into a Gibdo and Link has to help them felt personal to me for similar reasons. My dad was an alcoholic and I used to fantasize about Link coming and playing the Song of Healing to help him.

Sounds like you never had friends anon
>>376965757
I agree that KH has shitty writing
But 358/2 days was pretty fucked up and depressing
The entire last hour of Red Dead Redemption hit me like a train.
He just wanted to be a good family man, but something about the way Jack was just confused and scared as the cars rolled up from the distance triggered me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkAvVqjbUG8
Even the end theme captured all the unresolved emotions perfectlyTil the epilogue fucked it up
>>376965906
I did and still do since I was a kid. Talked to one of them earlier today. 358/2 days is retarded and anyone who is upset by it has zero standards for writing.
>>376966025
if you've never read a sad story with good writing, maybe. Or never seen a movie with a truly impactful ending.
>>376965839
not gonna lie anon that sounds like a CWC comic.
>>376966121
>Til the epilogue fucked it up
are you retarded? The epilogue ties the knot in a horrifically and perfectly depressing way. Jack is following in his father's footsteps, which is exactly what John was trying to prevent the whole game.
Nier Automata was a pretty heart wrenching game overall, but there were two parts in specific that fucked with meThe part where 2B dies on the way to the forstMass child suicide.
