I tried a game on a pc that could barely run it and tested talking on skype and discord while playing to monitor the framedrops.

The discord run was miles better. With skype it dipped to low 20s and it had overall more spikes.

I could say that i dont even post here much but people will call me out on being part of some circlejerk anyways. Try it for yourself and see how it goes.

Holy fuck this post explained my situation to a T. I can't tell you how fucking hard it was to convince friends to use discord. It just got the the point where I refused to play any game with them unless they where actively in the same voice room on discord as me.

Took a while but eventually everyone migrated to discord. Mind you one or two of them are still salty and refuse to accept discord is better but hey.

well we've been using skype the whole time and they don't have any of the ones I mentioned. So I guess I could get them to try discord I remember it having a browser version so I could get them to try it like that before we start using it exclusively.
