Tips for this game? I've played Civ 5 before but I've never been very good at 4X games.

Figure out the district leveling system (surround your capitol with 4 districts to level it up) and don't neglect your faction quest line.
>>376950070
I usually just cheese it by snowballing Science/Dust research to the point where I can buy the largest army in the game by the fourth age. Economic pressure is a good way of detering enemy players from attacking you, and those who would try can be bought into peace most times for some rather low lv research
Focus on your factions best resource.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq_1NWIsj0k Watch this, good review and it explains all the races and how they play.
>>376950070
Don't forget to upgrade all of your units. Gear is 80% of the battle.
>>376950070
Play wild walkers to start with, they aren't quite as gimmicky as the other factions and are really just good at production. They also have a very nice starting unit that can carry you.

BLING LORDS, BEST LORDS!
>>376953740
This and drakken are pretty good races to start with. Drakken have good start units that won't die too early and the ability to force peace on an enemy if absolutely necessary. Broken Lords are really good once you get the game figured out but in all honesty they can be a bit broken once they reach dust singularity.

>Oh look, another Buy Literally Everything You'd Ever Want Again turn
>>376953997
Broken lords can teach you bad habits. They can completely ignore several aspects of the game. They're best played once you're already experienced. The game never feels the same after settling a city and immediately having over 30 population.

>settling a city and immediately having over 30 population.
I dunno if I can even play broken lords anymore. I actually feel kind of bad doing this. This combined with the fact that you can just heal units on the go just makes Broken Lords dumb.

Literally, and at the same time, have a lv 1 governor that jumps into the mid teens of levels fully equipped with the best gear from resources bought from the market.
Definitely understand district leveling and the approval system, like the first reply said. Building a new district gives -10 approval, but when that upgrades to level 2, it switches over to +5. Basically, clump your districts together and don't conga line them across the region.
And yes, the main quest line is important for most factions. Important tech is usually locked to it, although sometimes you just get screwed and have to capture a region on the other side of the world.
Don't neglect assigning a hero or 2 as governors. Some hero races have amazing governing abilities that can help you as much as a combat hero.
Espionage can be very powerful when you get the hang of it. The most important thing, that the game doesn't make clear, is that espionage actions ALWAYS succeed, even if the spy gets captured or killed.
If you want full on AI exploiting game ruining cheeseThe AI almost never researches new units. They'll use their starting army + whatever neutral faction they recruit first. You can easily abuse this to build armies that hard counter whatever they're roaming around with.

Thank god the computer can't play Lords for shit.
Don't mind me. Just posting best faction.
>he doesn't even know every player from the start of the game
>>376954810
Drakken are terrible in EL. Maybe in ES2 with the reworked diplomacy they'd be better, but their advantage is marginal at best and gets wiped out real early in the game.
Also, who wants to be a bunch of faggy dragons?
Feels good swimming in an ocean of DUST.
>>376954931
>who wants to be a bunch of faggy dragons?
Literally who doesn't?
>>376954751
>although sometimes you just get screwed and have to capture a region on the other side of the world.
>play as cultists
>somehow end up on my own huge continent by myself
>Before even meeting anyone get a quest to destroy some city in a place I can't see
>It's on the other side of the map
Fuck.
>>376955294
At least all those tribes are yours for the taking.
>>376955294
>faction literally benefits from not being harassed by other players and having free access to many minor factions
>treats being on a continent along like its a bad thing
You need to reassess your priorities, Queen.
Is the DLC worth buying?
This thread is relevant enough. Do you guys think once Endless Space 2 releases, it will be cheaper on key sites than the current 25% discount? Or should I just buy it now?

Forgot a picture.

I was just complaining about the fact that the quest told me to go on the other side of the world. I ended up converting every minor faction on my continent and assimilating haunts and bos for food and science.
Also, it was my first time playing cultists just the other day and I gotta say. They're really quite fun, but I feel like having one city is kind of a gimp. I like going around and being able to get units from all the minor factions.
>>376956128
Personally I think all of it's worth buying but it can be a bit expensive so it's best to get them on sale. It adds some interesting factions (although they can be a bit gimmicky). Each of the major expansions adds a new function (sea resources and battles, espionage, advanced winters with pearl resource) and each of the new faction is supposed to be the "best" at that specific function.
But imo all of the expansions add some interesting gameplay mechanics to the game.

Good thing the Unfallen are space drakken
>>376956223
>it will be cheaper on key sites
Why bother with that when you can just pirate the game and then wait for a time when it's barely the cost of a single french fry with sales and whatnot? I mean, if you're gonna try to be a jew, do it better. Jesus didn't die for you just so you'd become a half-assed jew.
>>376956223
>key sites
Just pirate it if you're going to be such a fag. No reason to give your money to some other scalping cunt that probably stole the key anyway.
>>376956223
I'm patiently waiting until next weekend to see if there might be a Steam sale for launch
>>376956128
If you get the collection version you will get the dlcs in the future, I bought it before Tempest and now I can download the dlc too.
Also
>build naval army
>receive quest to kill sea monster whatever
>it sinks my fleet like nothing
posting best girl
What does everyone think about the Tempest DLC? I feel like it has some good ideas but there's really some things I don't like about boat combat. In all honesty I really wish they had given boat units specific to each faction.
>>376959625
Maybe in EL, but in Endless Space it's definitely thicc mafia alien lady who has just crazy proportions.
