Nah. The teamwork between Dixie and Kiddie is much better. The level design is better. The bosses are much better. Only irrelevant stuff like soundtrack or atmosphere might be debatable. As a game, DKC3 is better than DKC1.

This is where I gotta disagree. Some of the levels in 3 are far too simple, while others are either super-gimmicky (the fucking ellie levels for one) or just tenuous (the factory levels come to mind).

I'm really not a fan of the actual designs of the bosses, and they tend to drag a bit compared to the ones in DKC.

DKC3 isn't bad by any means but I would replay 1 or 2 first any day.

DKC1 also had tons of gimmicky levels. Platformers kinda have to, since their core gameplay is usually pretty simplistic.

And I personally liked Ellie much more than Rambie. Getting her actually changed up the gameplay for a bit, since she had all kinds of abilities. Rambie was just sorta a power star.

And the bosses only dragged if you missed your windows to damage them. The all only take very few hits when you know what to do (which, granted, you might not on your first playthrough). But every DKC3 boss was more enjoyable than every of those shitty "jump on head" bosses in DKC1. Remember the garbage can boss?
Also, Krool has the best fights in DKC3.

But yeah, it's all opinions, I don't feel like getting into a huge discussion right now.

I prefer the original DKC games but Tropical Freeze is still an excellent game that deserves more praise & recognition, too bad it didn't sell as much as it should've.

It was nominated for ten different awards and has a 83 metacritic.

Why do people act like this game is under rated ?

I believe it underperformed within the first few weeks and people immediately clung to that and called it a failure.

I personally haven't played too much of this game due to getting to free digitally via Club Nintendo, and then needing internal space because the fucking Wii U is a weak bitch. I grew up with the trilogy, loved 2 the most. I enjoyed DKCR3D quite a bit, the puzzle pieces are nice rewards when you collect them all in a stage, this is balanced with them being like the hardest collectible fucking ever, TFreeze has great music, hope the next game has K.Rool in it.
