Whenever I try to play the first Splinter Cell on PC it crashes after the first cut-scene, right as the tutorial level starts.
Has anyone heard of this problem before? Because Google and PCGamingwiki sure as hell haven't.

Metal Gear Solid V has now surpassed Chaos Theory as the ultimate stealth game for me.

I love CT but replaying it after MGSV made me realize just how linear it is most of the time, which is why I think MGSV comes out on top despite CT having better stealth mechanics.

double agent for xbox, ps2, and gamecube (version 2, which is odd that it came out later), is actually regarded as the better game and was made by the original splinter cell devs.

Version 2 is more like chaos theory, while version 1 is more of an action game.

1-3 are incredible.

The good version of DA (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube) is pretty good.

Conviction is really different. It's like a video game adaptation of 24. It's faster and more action heavy. To avoid shootouts/avoid killing people you have to play in a way that makes it feel like you're trying to break the game and I'm pretty sure it's straight up impossible in a lot of places.

Blacklist is like a middle ground between Conviction and Chaos Theory where it still controls like Conviction but it does try to go back to being more of a stealth game where you can avoid fights and you don't have to kill everyone.

I think they're all good enough. I don't even mind Conviction. My problem with it is the implication that we'll never have another CT, I'm cool with the game by itself. If it was released as a Jason Bourne game or a 24 game people would have praised it a lot more than they did.

I don't know about any consensus, but I definitely found it to be an improvement in everything DH1 did. From the level design, to the detection system, to the skills and tools you can use. I found the overarching story a bit weak, but overall just good, but I did enjoy the stories within the missions, and the new lore, and learning about the Outsider, and quite a few other things, in-game instead of the multiple tweets between Harvey Smith and the fans where he expounded upon a lot of things we never really learned in DH1.
