You're acting like there's any kind of direction with this retard.

He makes the endings first, then crafts the stories after. He's a hack, and I'm 100% sure he just tells his writers to put as much bullshit as possible, word for word.

There's people who will eat it up seriously, not unlike the Metal Gear series. I like Metal Gear, but it's fucking ridiculous at times.

Japanese people just get away with dumb shit.
>>
>>376912651
He gave Automata a happy ending though, while it should have continued the train wreck.

I love how whenever a game makes even an attempt as some thematic depth, or even mentions a philospher by name, the internet's army of philosophy degrees comes out of the woodwork to complain that the game doesnt include a thesis in the manual. They shout "pretentious," while waving their degrees around and signaling how well read they are.

Like yeah, the game doesnt go too into depth, but what do you expect. Its fucking vidya man, I like the dude just because he's crazy enough to try something like ending E, where it all paid off.

Taros just another japanese dude mixing the stuff he likes into his own blend of crazy and releasing it onto the world. You check his twitter you'll see how much he likes food, Berserk, Evangelion, and GiTS. Hell I told him he's getting close to his Anno-sempai in making nerds mad and he followed me for it.

Evolving into the Great One and taking humanity alongside you for a ride or leaving Yharnam are both the most positive endings Miyazaki ever did.
>true ending of BB is called Childhood's Beginning
>most powerful pre-E ending of Automata is called Childhood's End

That's pure headcanon though. All you know for a fact is that you become a Great One. And considering they are monstrosities that have been your enemies for the whole game that's kinda fucked up. Leaving Yharnam isn't exactly hopeful either because all that shit is probably just going to repeat itself some time later.

It's because his Dragon Quest buddy threatens to quit SE if they don't let Taro make a game

>>
>>376919065
>That's pure headcanon though
While that's true I believe it's not unreasonable to think that the entire theme of Bloodborne is based on "Childhood's End" in one way or another.
>>
>>376918712
>the most positive endings Miyazaki ever did
Except for maybe the ending in which you save the world in Demon's Souls. Hell, linking the Flame in DaS1 was probably more positive than any of the endings in Bloodborne.
>>
>>376919065
>That's pure headcanon though.
Trophy's description:
>You became an infant Great One, lifting humanity into its next childhood.
They were your enemies because you were bound by a contract with Moon Presence. Great Ones aren't truly evil and some lesser ones are even seemingly helpful or at least neutral like phantasms.

Leaving Yharnam seems to be a happy enough. Two other ex-dreambound hunters are some of the toughest motherfuckers around, and seem to be immune to beast plague too.
>>
>>376918795
Sbh is honestly okay, and his marxist interpretation of Auto Tomato was actually pretty cool.

His OG nier video was terrible though, he goes out of his way to have the least fun possible.

Its just another example of people not understanding that the nips like to take big ideas and tackle them up front. Its not subtle and never was meant to be.

The Emil quest is rather hidden since it's not obvious when you get it. It also gives you a rather memorable scene during Route C when you do it.

TL;DR

After you finished the Forest Kingdom go to the Luna Tear in the Shopping Mall and interact with it, Emil will then appear and you get a quest that tells you to find all the other Luna tears. You eventually go with Emil to Kaines shack which is the place in the image.

>>376923565

To start it you have to go to the commercial center (the entrance to the forest) and look at a flower.

Each of his games have different themes

OG Nier was about perspective and how the road to hell is paved with good intentions
Automata was about breaking from the pointless cycle of life and finding your own reason to live, no matter how hard or painful.
Drakengard was about immorality and heroism
>>
>>376924221

Wow mate, a youtube comment. That'll really show those pesky pretentious philosophy interested folks!
>>
>>376923002
I'd argue that any game that uses a standard sidequest system like Automata is inherently not Marxist, unless it was poorly written, which considering how all the side quests tie into the actual themes of the game, any marxist concepts are reading into it too much and/or unintentional. But that's just me.

It could show them how cringey they come off when they don't curb their euphoria.

>>
>>376924736
In his analysis Super Bunnyhop quickly mentionned how in marxism classes become conscious of themselves through conflict. Wich is what happens with the Machine Lifeforms.
However he then states that the conflict in Nier: Automata isn't a class conflict and that he's talking about Marx because he's the author he know the most about that's been mentionned in the game.

Essentially, the guy who posted that comment is an idiot.
>>
Tell me /v/, how does one analyze a story like BunnyHop? What should I look out for?

>>
>>376924736

I personally agree it has nothing to do with the subject. I'm also certain that you could read into anything and claim it's marxist, but numerous systems that are common place in RPGs are inherently capitalist in nature, so I was just stating these interpretations are completely unintentional on the writer's part and are mostly euphoric commies looking for euphoria anywhere.
>>
I hate it when you come across a story where you need to have read or be familiar with supplementary items beforehand in order to understand the work. This game especially.
>>
>>376926168
You can get into this game without any supplementary materials, though.
>>
>>376926168
I dunno, I played Automata and managed to understand the plot perfectly fine. The supplementary stuff was just icing on the cake.
>>
>>376926168
The only supplementary material I felt was necessary was the YoRHa stageplay as it adds a lot to A2's characterization. Other than that, the only thing you're missing out from not playing OG Nier is a lot of neat references and some heavy emotional moments (going beneath the shopping mall and Emil's questlines).

>I felt was necessary was the YoRHa stageplay as it adds a lot to A2's characterization.
This is what irks me the most because I know almost nothing about A2 and in order to learn about her you need to watch or read up on a stage play that sends chills down my spine and cringe.
>>
>>376926168
The supplementary material only explains some of the world and background for Taro's games. Drakengard, Nier, and Automata all tell a specific story with their own themes, and don't hinge upon knowing every facet of the world during or beforehand. That information is still out there and taken into consideration, but it's ultimately not the focus of the game.
>>
>>376926168
But that's wrong. The important elements of Nier 1 are explained in the game, parts of the stage play are mentionned in-game (not that it is really relevant), and the philosophical shit don't necessitate having read anything about philosophy.

The only things that will change is the plot surrounding Emil, Devola and Popola wich doesn't strike as hard if you haven't played Nier 1. And they are all side characters, you'll still understand the main plot.

You don't need to know that Eve has the Watcher's symbol in his tats to enjoy the story.
>>
>>376926168
I don't know shit about philosophy but I like to get lost in my thoughts so this game worked pretty well for me by just presenting a lot of interesting scenarios that are literally just there for you to think about them without having any clear answer.

Or if you are talking about the side stories from the strategy guides or whatever, I read them all and they don't really add anything important. The only notable thing I'd say is Memory Thorn that deepens 9S and 2B's relationship and the stageplay that gives A2 a slightly more detailed background.
>>
>>376926748
It's an EXTREME dickery to leave Memory Thorn outside of the game, though. That thing is instrumental for understanding true nature of 2B's feelings and character development.
>>

>>
>>376928385
If anything that made his games much more memorable. A game (or book/movie/etc.) with a strong opening but weak ending are usually regarded negatively and considered disappointing since the bar has already been set so high in the beginning, leaving the rest of it lackluster, but a weak opening and strong ending leaves a much stronger impression since you come out of it feeling satisfied.
>>
>>376928847
To be fair it would have made sense for N2 to imitate either of them as a way to advance it's own evolution by fucking itself over. It doesn't actually need to be tied to the Watchers, just N2 imitating a relic of the old world.
>>
>>376912953

I tried that with one story, it's a really good method but makes introduction really tricky to handle. He must be really skilled to do what he did with Nier Automata

The momentum of a stone that just started rolling down a slope is the slowest.
It's also why I will never understand the three episode rule for anime series. Some series just start slow but end up being amazing after you made the initial investment of sticking to it.
>>
>>376929169
That's actually what I think it is. There is no link between those things, but N2 and machine lifeforms in general really like taking shit from old human archives and replicating them.
The Network probably found old data about Red Eyes from the time where Replicants and Androids fought against it, found that neat little Watchers motif (including the little girl voiced by an old man) and decided to run with it.
>>

>>376929485
There are two reasons for this:
There are many other series who aren't slow as fuck, and keeping on watching a boring series on the hypothesis that it may become good is a dubious bet, as well as a likely waste of time

If you watch the fifty episodes of a trash series you're more likely to find it good since you're going to rationalize the fact that you spent 25 hours of your time watching something boring, lowering your standards for other anime. You can't be corrupted by shit taste if you stop watching it early

Communism and capitalism are economic systems, not political ones. They can exist in all sorts of political systems. It just so happens to be that most historically communist countries were dictatorships, communism doesn't inherently require dictatorship though.

I think communism is retarded but the communism = dictatorship is just ignorance. Yes, a communist country can never have 100% freedom by definition of what communism is, but that doesn't make it a dictatorship. People need to stop thinking about political and economic systems as black and white rather than a gradient.
