I don't get what this game has to do with the Souls series besides maybe the aesthetics, yet people everywhere keep saying it's x + Dark Souls. Just because enemies hit hard doesn't make it Dark Souls.

I'll let you know when it's out of Early Access and I get to playing it.

You never backtrack and put new skills to use to reach previously blocked areas. You just go forward until you die and start over.

Combat and platforming. Backtracking is done in the way of finding power ups and being able to branch into new levels from the first zone. It's literally a mix of roguelike and Castlevania mechanics.

I haven't played it, but I can almost guarantee there's some kind of body-reclamation mechanic like Souls popularized.

I have played it. You get an upgrade that drops a percentage of your last life's gold on your feet when you respawn. All levels are randomly generated so you could never revisit your body.

I like it, the combat is really fun and coming up with synergies between items and weapons makes it pretty deep

Sucks that it's early access though because everyone knows that's a red flag
