Your supposed to gether the materials needed over the levels you need to get too. If you didnt go full retard and started crafting all sets on one non new game+ playthrough then you should have what you need. Maybe a few pieces needed for those grandmaster sets but, the stores in Toussant have what you need.

Pretty much this. By the time I reached the lvl of the armor, I only missed a couple of ingredients that I could make myself or buy directly in the crafting screen.

Also, Griffin is best set.

At which point does a main story require top tier witcher set? Confirmed turboautist, kys.

Yes you are very wrong.
>>
>>376897171

If you were even half as good as you think you are you wouldn't get hit at all and armour would just be an aesthetic choice.
>>
>>376896602
Depends what you want out of the game. If you're in it mainly for the story and looking cool then it wouldn't matter to you personally unless the set has some epic story behind gathering all the pieces.

I was playing through Splinter Cell Blacklist but halfway through the game, it started getting tedious and I was only interested in finishing the story by that point. I considered just watching a movie version of it on youtube but decided to just trudge on through since I already had it installed.

>>
>>376897261
>If you were even half as good as you think you are

>Witcher 3

Only challenging fights in the game are in hearts of stone DLC, rest can be considered more or less filler. Witcher sets and weapons just remove the requirement to pay attention in combat, you can literally just R1spam everything to death.

I used the console for certain schemata and ingredients like the troll liver. Fuck that randomly generated shit, and the game gives me the two most useful oils (necrophage and hanged mans) always at last. Also fuck ingredient farming, even with the icl mod it takes forever.

Weirdly enough I did have more than enough gold and mats for my grandmaster set, though.

Not really. Maybe if the game was fun, and hunting down armor or obtaining the materials was interesting or took you to neat locales.

But they don't, and it isn't. Also the end result (continuing the main quest) is garbage too for that matter, so you lose by default either way, same as me.

>>
>>376897815
Hes talking about the grandmaster ursine set. As in witcher gear, the best gear in the game. Hardly any drops you get will ever surpass witcher gear. Maybe only that special olfieri sword or the Tesha Mutna sets. Even those depend on when you grab them.
>>
>>376897094

>>376898062
So you CAN continue main story without wasting 5 hours farming an overpowered unnecessary set? Imagine that! and no need to use cheats either, problem solved!
>>
>>376896602
Yes, you get all the gold you need just by doing the blood and wine quests and selling all your shit.

If you clear out the three major bandit camps and sell all the shit you get that should get you enough money.
>>
>>376898108
Why couldn't you stand them? It's not like Quen requires combos or some shit.

What game do you imagine this is?
>>
>>376898226
grandmaster witcher armor is better than any other armor in the game, but you can get better steel and silver swords so you won't get the bonus for 6 pieces only the bonus for 3 pieces
>>
>>376897094
Griffin makes Geralt look chubby
>>
>>376897828
The ending was pretty shit gameplay wise because at the very end you're basically forced to sneak behind the final boss to trigger a cutscene fight and then press F enough to not fail the QTE to finish the game. Should've watched a youtube movie and not wasted so much time playing through the missions/10.

And all my bitching about the missions is because they didn't introduce anything new after the first half of the game. It's just throwing more guys at you after every mission. Overall it was a 6/10 stealth game for me as that's what I was looking to play for when I picked it up.

>W2 controls were consolized

You realize Witcher 2 was originally a PC exclusive right? It didn't get ported to consoles until a year after its launch. How could the controls in that game be consolized if it was meant to be a PC exclusive? Are you retarded?

Also 3 has pretty similar controls to 1, I much prefer KMB to a pad.
>>
>>376898416
*3 has similar controls to 2, sorry, not 1
>>
>>376898274

It's not about not being able to complete the main story without Witcher gear. It's about wanting the gear but not spending 5 hours away from the actually interesting content of the game.
>>
>>376896972
Weird that you added a number at the end of Diablo.
Almost as if you think super fast lootfest is better than one of the most tense and atmospheric dungeon crawlers ever.
>>
It doesn't matter because Quen is the only armor you need, so all outfits are cosmetic anyway.

Armor matters as much in TW3 as it does in FFXV.
>>
>>376898491
people complain about quen so much but if you're bad enough to constantly get hit and wait for quen to recharge and cheese the whole game like that then you're a bad faggot who intentionally is not having fun because you suck.

>>
>>376898560
The combat sucks and is riddled with technical issues.

Quen is an exploitable obtainable early in the game, and Death March is piss easy. That's called bad game design and it stands out, if nothing more as a testament to how little fucks the developers cared.

TW3 wasn't designed by video game developers, it was designed by filmmakers. 450,000 lines of voiced dialogue and they couldn't even write a good story. What irony.
>>
>>376898597
>weapons and armor break sorta quickly
>the repair costs are extremely pricy
I didn't really find that it breaks quickly. But I gotta say, it depends on what you hit I guess.
But the repair costs are around +100 shekels iirc which is totally fine. Unless you really go deep with crafting runes, you should have more than enough money for that.
Also pick up every armor/weapon repair set you find

you're the turboautist, since you failed to correctly infer that "so i can continue the main story" meant without wasting 5 hours grinding, not that the set was required to do so. difficulty with context and inference is a sign of autism, anon. get tested.

I went the whole game without looking at TW3's spreadsheet. Call it luck I guess, call it intuition. Maybe just call it bad design.

TW3 loves to pretend it's an RPG and that numbers matter beyond just slapping on whatever the game throws at you naturally. Bonuses to that garbage doesn't change how bad the gameplay is, and it doesn't add any "role-playing" advantages to Geralt. It's just numbers. You have the highest numbers, congratulations.

Did your numbers fix the final boss? The narrative?

almost every armor in the game is so laughably bad, you're forced to play the majority of your playthrough with ugly as sin costumes that have nothing to do with the character of Geralt

I wouldn't stand playing as a buffoon so much, it's out of character for books Geralt and it's awful as a player

So yeah, appearance is so important for some people, that ignoring it would make the rest of the game worse, if not unbearable
I would have dropped it during the first 5 hours if I at least didn't have the chance of changing Geralt's look

>>
>>376899550
Don't know about the other sets, but the manticore one gave an extra 30 toxicity points, which worked well with the mutation that gives you more damage the more toxicity you have.
I think my fully buffed and inpotioned Geralt had something like 310 toxicity points, and when I used all that capacity I gained like +200% damage.
>>
>>376899729
I only ever bothered with potions at the beginning(et everything once) and then when I saw that one is available for upgrade.
So I didn't really try to actively upgrade them all the time. But have you tried alchemists(flask symbol) instead of herbalists? Also some ingredients might only grow in certain areas.

It's bad because you CAN spam it. Early and effectively.

It wouldn't be as bad if it was a late game skill, and you actually had to tailor some kind of build to be able to use it effectively to the point of breaking whatever balance the game has.

It's bad because the developers looked at it and said "this is fine".

Well I didn't. So I'm not sure what to tell you here. Honestly though, because as said, I didnt pay that much attention to upgrading potions and oils, so I've no idea what you did differently. I didnt even gather much myself. Pretty much everything I found in bags, crates and chests.
It almost sounds like you need something special(probably not the case, but it does sound like it.)

>>376899994
How did the sign builds get fucked? I haven't played since beating BaW on zhe version it came out with.

Anyways, you can simply get the runewright to turn the manticore armor into a light one, for the crits. Ot like having 3 sign runes if worth all that much, especially if you're going to just mow down ene,ies anyway.
I used 3 decoctions as wekl and then just threw other pots into my head to fill the toxicity out, simply for the damage bonus from that mutation. Without that special mutation there really is noo need for another 30 toxicity points. It really just depends on how you want to play.

Oh that, that hardly fucked sign builds, it simply made normal igni use viable again.
Now it's either: want to make a single enemy burn for sure? Use secondary fire.
Want to make it waste time by burning? Use primary fire.
You did set the harpues on fire, but post nerf secondary fire igni only ignites them for 1 second instead of 4, but you ignite them for the whole duration you set yout fire stream on them.

Also you can just download the unfix if you want.

It doesn't destroy rune slots, but it occupies the three slots on the main body. The other slots from trousers, shoes and gloves are still free to use.

I obviouly haven't tried it out much with the newest patch, but back at release if you didn't have 100% burn chance, firestream would get you fucked because the enemy would jump through it and attack you before it started burning
>Also you can just download the unfix if you want.

I gotta say something seems fucked. Not saying its your fault, but something went wrong somewhere if you're that far and you're still on basics. I've only now returned from Skellige and half my potions are enhanced already, and I never loot bushes. It just happened from what I got out of crates, bags and enemies.

speaking of sign builds: how do you deal with enemies immune to them? I've had to run with archgriffin decoction most of the time because of bosses or golems immune to signs

>>
>>376901067
What you're saying is full of bullshit. Either something broke on your save, or they (weirdly) did enhance fire resistent for that one enemy type. I had no problems setting shit on fire with the firestream, but they only burned for one additional second once the firestream rnded, which was intentional.

Also the point about needing 100% burn chance for the firestream on vanilla is bullshit as well. Nothing but the wild hunt shits and elementas could do anything against the firestream. On the contrary, getting that last igni perk was actually a complete waste bevause everytjing burnt so easily.

But well, whatever. I don't mind you not liking the nerfed igni, as it's a fucking singleplayer anyway.

I remember most enemies including bosses apart for select few being succeptible to Axii alt form even ones that are of higher level.
Failed Axii will stun or stagger them.
Aard staggerd everything if your stagger chance was 100+% I even remember knocking out some bosses completely, killing then instantley with the followup.
Igni burn is pretty good sometimes outdamaging you.
Yrden's slow is useful for certain enemy types.
If all fails or if you are that inept you can spam quen or its healing alt.

I only have blue skills and Efficiency for more sign intensity, and I'm better off swinging at them with my sword
Also, the "burn" of regular Igni is laughable. You said they burn for one second but that's highballing it. They burn for the exact tick that you do damage, the actual effect is that they get pushed back a bit and recover within 0.2s

The books don't explain what the White Frost is, either, aside for the world has been getting colder. CDpro was pushing the danger of the White Frost to the front a lot more than the novels did even in the first Witcher game, though.

obviously the solution is Ciri should just take a giant ball of heat and shoot it through a portal into the sun made of ice that is the White Frost and let their collision defuse both problems, though.
>>
>>376901998

>>
>>376902517
hurr im a durr, guess barghests are immune to that and weak to Aard instead
Tried it on a water hag, she got lit on fire with the proper "panicking" effect
Firestream still did about 2k damage per tick though while my fast attack DPS is about 1700
How much Sign Intensity should a blue build have? I don't remember
>>
>>376902517
Not the guy you were arguing with but.
In my experience the stream sucks because people just walk through it and hit you.
On the other hand the regular igni 100% burns and does 400-1100 damage per second for about five seconds. Since I invested points into it.
>>
>>376902764
I don't even remember the game ever mentioning the White Frost apart from that weird, out of place mandatory discussion with the dude looking for the white whale.

Then again, I checked out after Kaer Morhen and left the room when the flashback exposition movies started playing, so there might've been something about it in there.
>>
>>376902804
Well the way you usually do it is to set them on fire with a regular Igni and then just cast firestream again and again until they die, which is made possible by a blue build's insane stamina regen
Just using firestream as a starter will indeed fuck you up because it takes a second or two to set fire to them, so you wanna either do it when they're slowed by yrden, staggered by aard, already on fire, or just came out of an attack
>>
>>376902804
>stream sucks because people just walk through it and hit you.
only if you don't have 100% burning or didn't burn them long enough/tried to firestream a bugger that is about to hit you in 0.1 sec because there is a very small delay.
>>
>>376901998
Ciri basically stops time in the universe where the white frost began.
>>
>>376902794
>but you never even fucking used it
I never used it because it was broken. I wanted to use it because of the concept, but after testing it in combat it was horrendously overpowered and ruined the combat.

And yes, after about 15 hours I figured out that the combat was never going to get better, and that it suffered from technical faults. This doesn't change what an afterthought Quen was, it just ended up being that most of the gameplay was an afterthought.
>>
>>376903112
So combat is shit regardless.
Good for you.
Go play another game instead of continuing to waste your life with it or bitching on a chinese cartoon forum board you fucking autismo.
>>
>>376901998
It doesn't make any sense because it actually has no sense.

In the books at some point, the white frost is described as a natural phenomena tied to the cycles of climate change that affect every planet. Basically what modern science calls the snowball Earth theory. If I remember correctly, the explanation that Sapkowski gives coincides with the High-obliquity hypothesis of such theory, according to which the Ice age could be the consequence of an axial-tilt or magnetic pole shift of the planet.

This means that it is not magical in nature, nor there is a way to predict it, stop it or harness its power.
