Both games had a ton of love poured into the graphics, gameplay and story.
Secrets too. I played SMRPG when it first released, and didn't know about the casino and lazy shell until years later. CT, I don't know how many times I played and never knew you could reforest that one area.

I was 8. It became my favorite game of all time for about 18 more years. I remember sitting at the foot of my mom and dad's bed because the SNES was in their room, being so shocked when I realized it wasn't a regular Mario game and falling in love with it even harder. It was so long before everything in life lost the potential to be good.

This is still one of my favorite. I know people have boners for Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi games, and while they are fine, this is what I think of when people are talking about a Mario RPG. Fantastic music, great graphics, pioneered timed hits, great secrets, and I fucking loved being able to have Bowser on my team.
