Vita's is literally holding Sen series back in amount of content able to fit on a cartridge, that and Sen needing two games to resolve the civil story where Sora did in one. Sen is getting too bloated for its own good. Forcing a second playthrough for lore dump books that they cant incorporate into main story is just bad writing

I guess it's probably not for me, then. I've been spoiled by newer RPGs, like SMTIV, Persona 5, Xenoblade Chronicles, XBCX, and Kamidori Alchemy Meister.

The character dialogue isn't really that good, and nothing about the game is really gripping. I tried to like it, but the combat is so watered down and the animations take thousands of years. Considering it was a PSP game, it's definitely no wonder why it is a fan favorite. Even though it isn't amazing to me, considering how trash the PSP's library was, especially with RPGs, I can see why people praise it so much.

The only one it beats, off the top of my head, is Dragon Quest. It's about as interesting as your average Pokemon dialogue, and nowhere near as GOAT as Xenoblade dialogue. Like, the dialogue is so mindbogglingly boring that I barely bother talking to the NPCs anymore. They all say useless things that don't really have any bearing on the story at all.

Maybe that changes, but, again, I'm only a couple of hours into the game.

I haven't gotten super far into Trails, so I wouldn't be able to comment on it, but Kamidori was GOAT until you had to start min/maxing and all of the regular story characters, except for Wil, became deadweight. The DLC wasn't tremendously entertaining, but I stuck it out because Kamidori is just the best thing ever. The loot system had a lot to do with it, but I think the FFT/Mystery Dungeon gameplay is what made it so perfect.

I've talked to every NPC twice thus far. They say fuck all that is interesting. Just commenting about random going-ons in their daily lives. This isn't revolutionary. Again, Xenoblade Chronicles does the same, but makes each character stand out, gives them actual personality (instead of just archetypes), connects them all to one-another through the Affinity Chart system, and develops them throughout the story as you finish sidequests for them and progress through the story.

See all the NPCs on that hijacked airship who finally return to Bose shaken and relieved they're safe now. And I can name Trails NPCs who have distinct personalities without devolving into paper-thin archetypes. The book-seller in Bose Market is a wily one for sure.

Not necessarily. It wasn't until I was about finished with Ruan that I started to care about the game. The first 12 or so hours felt like a neverending slog and while there was a lot of world building and things that become relevant later, at the time on your first playthrough you're just whatever because nothing in the game has hooked you yet.

All of the first games of each arc suffer from this problem, but FC probably has it worst because even the opening minutes of the game is boring; at least Zero and Cold Steel 1 give you a sneak peak of some interesting developments that happens later on in those games to keep you interested.

My biggest gripe with FC is how long you only have Estelle and Joshua during the first few chapters. Once you get Schera and Olivier things start picking up since you get more turns to kill monsters with but then you loose them and it's back to square one until your party fills up again.

It was especially aggravating during NPC escorts since they make fights take that much longer.

How important is playing chapter 8 in SC? I just started it and I'm thinking of just asking for someone's save from that point in the game because I have no motivation to continue but would also feel silly watching a let's play after playing the whole series up to this point.
