Does the Mana series have a future? I'm always hoping for a great new Mana game but every new title that comes out (including the remake) has been getting too bright, too pastel, too Saturday morning cartoon and less of that fairy tale book illustration vibe they used to have. What happened?

They got a new producer some years ago who wants to make a SD5 on a home console but he wants to re-release the past games to sort of bring the series back into the public eye first. I imagine with the Collection, they're going to start with 5 now.
As for the art, I imagine the style established with Adventures of Mana and the Collection are here to stay, but they might still do art like the Secret of Mana boxart since that's easily the most iconic imagery for the franchise. Check the SD3 boxart, there's always been some of this, some of that.

I keep wondering if the SD Collection, has graphical updates like the FF series does. If it is just a straight up emulation then I'm not sure how relevant it will be. Don't get me wrong, I like the series, but without any sort of graphical improvement I can't justify buying in again.
