>*Writes a ridiculous and nonsensical wall of text turning piracy into some kind of political and revolutionary anti-establishment statement and pirates into revolutionaries at the same level as Ghandi, George Washington or the Che Guevara.
>>

I'm Argentinian and I wish the Che Guevara hadn't been born
>>
>>376828249

Or just pirate because it's there and you can.
>>
>>376828470
thats ok but then there are some faggots that are like
>I hate the vidya industry and want it to die. All games released the last 20 years are shit. If you dont pirate I hate you. Lol wagecuck. Everything should be free to begin with and we give the devs we like donations
>>
>>376828784
>Everything should be free to begin with
Amen
>>
>>376828784
My favorite one is
>"For a videogame company pirates are more important than buyers"
>>
>>376828938
I disagree.
Innovation and quality come from empty stomachs.
>>
>>376829051
Likewise, they can be stifled when chased only for profit.
>>
>>376829084
Indeed.
Probably, like everything in life, an equilibrium is needed.
>>
>>376829216
Death is the only solution
>>
>>376829084
>innovate
>make more money
>"hmm, this innovation stuff gets us more money."
>"ayy lmao we're good, we can stop here"
>>
>>376829283
this isn't usually how it works
it's more like

>make money
>make monopoly
>"hey should we innovate?"
>"nah just charge more for the same thing, who's gonna stop us lmao"
>>
>>376828784
Retarded politics aside all video games released in the past 10 years absolutely suck with the exception of a handful of japanese games
>>
>lost sales
>>
Gandhi would have been pro-piracy.
t. Sainath Ramprasad
>>
>>376829446
Not really.
We've been getting good / great games almost every year for the past decade, from both sides of the world.

I'm pretty sure you would be mad as fuck if you wrote a book and everyone pirated it without giving you a single cent.
You aren't entitled to other people's hard work unless you pay for it.
>>
Sales data proves that the market performance of games is directly proportional to its popularity in the pirate community. Piracy helps the industry.
>>
>>376829730
What does that have to do with lost sales?
Your point only holds water because you used an exaggeration (everyone) to support it.

They'd better be fucking happy they get any sales at all if they're going to cry over non-existent "lost" sales.
>>
>>376829780
>Things popular in multiple groups are also popular with one particular group of enthusiasts.
Really adheres to the hemispheres brah
>>
>>376829910
>What does that have to do with lost sales?
You're pretty much saying "it's ok to pirate because I wasn't going to buy it anyway", like you were entitled to that creator's work.
>>
>>376828249
Che and Gandhi were fucking fags but so are you if you don't view paying for video games as a form of charity
>>
>>376830021
Nice circular logic but it doesn't prove me wrong. No one has yet proven that piracy harms developers.
>>
>>376830060
>implying I'm holding it to some moral standard
No, I pirated it and had my way with it. There's nothing else to it.
Sorry I hurt the creator's feefees.
>>
So when's Prey gonna be cracked? I don't wanna have to buy the fucking thing.
>>
>>376830060
you're the only one bringing morality into this. If he wasn't going to buy it, but did pirate it then no sale was lost whether he was entitled to it or not. Whether it's ethical is a completely different issue than whether it equates to a lost sale.
>>
>>376830163
It's pretty obvious:

>Sell thing for $40
>But, said thing is available for free
>Why would someone spend $40 instead of spending $0?
>>

>fails
>>
>>376830060
Also another problem with this (and most arguments) is this omnipotent "creator".

A fair amount of the time, the game isn't made by a single "person". What if other people involved in the game's creation (collectively, the "creator") don't care if people pirate it and just enjoy the product?
What about the publisher, who actually cares about profit?

If that was true, the games industry would have died years ago. Piracy and sales both have been rising. Don't fall for publishers' propaganda.
>>
>>376828784>>376828982

They're right.

If you're paying 100$ for AAA games "deluxe" editions plus a 50$ season pass you are literally killing gaming.

Sometimes a crash is necessary to weed out the failures of capitalism.

You realize consoles wouldn't even exist if they weren't backed by billion dollar corporations like Sony and Microsoft? The entire industry is unsustainable without them funneling billions from their other divisions and paying developers to stay off the free market with exclusive deals.
>>
>>376830443
You can validate even ordinary theft with the same logic.

>tfw I never gave a fuck about muh industry from the day I started playing vidya while I was a little kid
I don't really give a fuck about the whole piratefags - buyfags shitposting but
>muh lost sales
Is pretty much retarded. I never tought about buying these games to begin with. How are you lose a thing that was never yours to begin with? It's bold and empty claim from entitled mouths. I'm not going to pay for your shit, I never wanted to pay for your shit. If I had no choice I would just skip it. You didn't lose a damn thing.
>piracy is stealing
You still have the original product in your hand. You can still sell it. Copying the thing that you didn't intend to pay it in the first place is nowhere near as stealing and making the seller unable to sell it. You still have it. Go ahead and sell it.
Also why the fuck is /v/ the only place against piracy while every single other board either doesn't care or straight up recommends it. We have a fucking torrent board for fucks sake and this is not facebook. It really begs the the question whether we have paid marketers or (failed ?) game developers here.
Also why is game developers are always butthurt about it while writers, musicians and directors just accepted the fact that this a norm that won't go away.
Is this really developers or publishers speaking?
>>
>>376830616

This. Even Nintendo is getting in on this, and they're doing it in such a subtle way that you're willingly accepting it with open arms. Like with pay2play online subscriptions.

>dude it's only 20 dollars! Even though we ragged on PC users for spending alot of money on their systems, we're now going to call people poorfags for not spending money frivolously!

Does anyone not see the brainwashing?

Theft causes actual, concrete loss to the original owner. Piracy's impact on sales is pure conjecture. Literally 'ifs' and 'buts'.

Because of instead of being original, OPs can get a popular/active thread by pirating previously discussed (to deaths) ideas.

>hating real world big boss

What do you have against Che Brovara? He killed faggots, corrupt Batista officers, hated niggers and was bretty cool overall.

Whatever Cuba did later is not his fault.

>but he was a commie!
The commie he was is not the commie you hate these days. In fact he would pretty much round up those faggots and shot them against a wall.

I unironically want to spite EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and any other major publisher as much as possible. They've literally ruined gaming. For the other games I pirate, it's because I can.
