have you tried the steam controller wrapper? Go into big picture, plug in your ds4, and go in the controller settings where there's the option for using non-xbox controllers. this setting saves outside of big picture.
the steam contrller configurator also allows you to mess with things like the touchpad, gyro, and the LED which is nifty

His heavy attacks are activated by either dodge into light attack or delaying a second attack in attack chain similar to some DMC combos. Don't forget to use his light charged attacks as they are very strong, especially for a spear or bracers.

SD cancels are self destruct cancels that allow to abuse the shit out of some of his abilities and attacks. For example they can be used to quickly get to the last attack in a combo with type 3 weapons which produce explosion on last combo hit. Most of his normal attacks and even some perfect dodge attacks can be cancelled by dodging as well and overall he has higher amount of moves you can cancel than girls. This can be used to spam the shit out of his first heavy attack with combat bracers to produce an impressive DPS, for example. Or just kite enemies with his forward dash spear throw move.

After playing with him for some time i had a hard time going back to girls as 9S has counters to pretty much any situation at any ranges.

So i might be a retard but its still not working.
I went to big picture mode and clicked on ps4 support, plugged in the controller, then i clicked on nier settings to make sure the ps4 controller was there but its still not working. I can change the light so i know the controller is actually connected and im sure ds4windows and inputmapper arent running.
Keyboard controls still work, do i have to block those somehow?

I wish controllers will just be plug and play someday.
