The only half definitive way to play DQ8 on 3DS is with a orchestra un-censorship patch and even then the extra content doesn't justify how easy they made the game and the graphic downgrade is still significant. Xenoblade Chronicles X. It's not as good as Xenoblade but it's pretty fucking close. Less of a focus on a main story but the sidequests are a hell of a lot better, also the gameplay (combat and exploration) is improved and expended in all the right ways. There's a VERY vocal hatebase for this game among the Xenoblade fandom for some reason but I still invite you to give it a try, as a fan of Xenoblade myself I was very pleased.

Difficulty is gone, the game is censored, the graphical downgrade is huge and music plays a huge role in any jrpg, if you heard how inferior the music is in the 3Ds version and still want to listen to the shitty midi files for 80hours then dam I don't know what else to say.
