I usually run STR or quality builds

Mistly quality though because across all games it allows access to the greatest amount of armor and weapons at any given time

My favorite is DeS but i do like all of the dark souls games quite a bit for different reasons

I played them all in release order and bought everything from DaS1 on release day. I miss the comfy Demon's Souls threads. Souls becoming a franchise was a mistake. Still enjoy the games though.

I think all the games are good games, but I do think that DS3 is probably the weakest title of the entire soulsborne series.

I played them all in order as they came out. Haven't beaten BB yet though. My favorite is DS3 but they're all great IMHO

DS3=BB>DaS>DeS>DS2

Favorite build is light armor for quick roll and great sword. Favorite armor set is the fallen knight set from DaS3

I also like dual wielding the claws for fun, but it isn't as viable as other builds

My favorite builds were either unarmed/cestus (DaS2) or dragonstone + DSGA + hornet ring in DaS3 because fists in DaS2 actually did fantastic damage and the dragonstone + DSGA build in DaS3 oneshot every shitter online who couldn't fight without holding their shield up at all times and had access to armor to blow up r1 spammers which made up the remainder of the online population

BB and DS3 bore the fuck out, literally every weapon feels the same (ds3) or in BB's case every weapon is inferior to Saw Cleaver because of it's good moveset. Both games you have no reason to ever level stats unless you need health. Magic is boring and trivializes both games to the point where why bother even playing?

Reposting from last BB/Souls thread that died.

The linearity of BB turns me off from it.DaS has the whole world open except AL/Nito/Lost Izalith and Archives at the game start.
BB has every area locked except Yharnam at game start. Then after you clear that you only have Old Yharnam open (or farm 10k souls lmao) then finally you have Grand Cathedral open which only lets you access Hemwick.
I hate BB's and DaS3's linearity. I understand why the did it because normies/casuals get lost easily/don't know where to go but it really ruins the world for me. The same way Shrine of Winter ruined DS2 for me, but in that game's defense it had more areas open at the start than BB and DS3 combined.

Bloodborne is my favorite from a PvE perspective, SotFS/DS2 from PvP. Can't really pick a favorite overall, all of them are really good

Got a PS4 just for BB, then borrowed a PS3 to play DeS after, no regrets

Strength all the way, curved greatswords have always been close to my heart, mainly faith/str builds (too bad faith is shit in DS3)

PvE: BB > DeS >= DaS > DS3 > SotFS > DS2

PvP: DS2/SotFS > DS3 > DaS > BB
(very little DeS PvP experience, can't have a good opinion on it)

I love DS2 simply because the PvP is so top-tier in it. Actually making a new character is a pain since I have to get through the PvE, but it has a lot of features such as bonfire ascetics that makes it good (altho DS3 fixed it by giving you +3 rings in the second DLC in every NG)

Moonlight Greatsword was a buttton of fun, same with the Kos Parasite.

That's sort of my worry. Dark Souls was perfect and self-contained, then:

Hopefully BB2 is just another spiritual successor. Same fast-paced gameplay and blood mechanics but completely different setting, like feudal japan or post-demon apocalypse modern day (think SMT).

BB is my favourite. I always liked dex builds with magic offhand, and this game is nothing but that in a victorian lovecraftian setting. It's the one game I wish I could go back and play for the first time again.

Don't worry about it, You can always respec to try out different weapons to, if you alt f4 or eject the disk right when you respec it doesn't count as respeccing and you can do it infinite times.

Personally, I'd recommend just for this fight maybe respeccing fully into vigor and one damage stat like str or int+fth+attun for pyromancy

That isn't to say you can't do it now, you can do it by the ''git gud'' meme.

Still haven't played the DLC for 3 yet, need to get around to that. I desperately want to play Bloodborne but I don't want a PS4. If Death Stranding gets confirmed as an exclusive it might be enough together to make me shell out for one though.

I think the first dark souls is still probably my favorite. The world feels fluidly and interestingly connected, and holding out on fast travel makes the world feel a lot more immersive. Earning fast travel felt like a big deal in the first game, I didn't like having it from the start. That being said, almost everything post Anor Londo has serious problems, and the game probably would have benefited a great deal from a longer development cycle. The DLC was excellent.

I liked Demon's Souls but world tendency is way too weird to ever be popular to normies. DeS has a really great atmosphere though, and is an essential PS3 exclusive imo.

I tried playing DS2 and it ended up being the only Souls game I literally couldn't even finish playing. How this ugly, clunky, chinese Souls ripoff was ever okay for release is beyond me.

As far as favorite is concerned, I've enjoyed DS1, BB, and DS3 more or less equally. BB might get the slight edge if only because it's a complete story by itself.

And STR is my favorite build in all games. Great Club and Kirkhammer are probably my favorite weapons.

It's not narrative or prose. It's messages that literally say stuff like "Press L1 to attack" and that's it. Again, Dark Souls is a game that requires a bit of patience and effort, and if you can't even read any of the tutorial messages I don't think you will find much enjoyment out of the game.
Also, have fun missing a fuckload of hidden rooms and stuff if you are gonna ignore player messages.

Favorite is DS1 because the interconnectedness of the world and the views from various places really stuck with me. Looking up from blighttown or down from the various holes in the walls in Tomb of the Giants, etc was pretty memorable, and finding shortcuts in unexpected places that plop you back in another area.

I tend to always play my first, completely blind playthrough as a Faith/Str or Faith/Dex. Never summon for my own boss, but after killing, I like to help a few others out so I can see the boss a few times.

After that I tend to play through a few times as various things. The only things i avoid are 'casters' (see: projectile spam). Pyro/Sorc are literal cancer and the easiest possible way to play through most of the games. I did a Hexer through Ds2 and a pure Sorc twink in DS3 and jesus that's the easy way out for sure.

Couldn't be farther from the truth. I was of the same mentality since I always did melee builds in Souls game but after doing pyro builds in DS1 and DS3, my opinion has completely changed. While pyro can do a fuckload of damage and keep you at a distance, I'd argue pyro builds require a lot more strategy than melee builds. Both builds require you to understand enemy patterns but unlike melee builds where you can wear heavy ass armor and tank through shit (especially true in DS1 which makes it borderline broken), pyro builds force you to understand proper spacing and try to get hit as little as possible since you're rarely able to get hit more than once or twice against bosses.

I like straight, curved and thrusting swords as well as having ranged options so I normally go Dex + any magic stat, went full pyro in DaS 3 because the ashen estus mechanic let me keep my sword buffed until I got an infusion that scales with magic stats.
Went full Skill in BB since Threaded Cane and Ludwig's Holy Blade were the only weapons I liked and there's no ranged magic.

I have a SL48(?) or so Sorc on DS3 with CSS hitting for what, 1500 damage? Run around twoshotting bosses, he's cleared NG++ with no problems. Sure you get oneshotted but whats it matter because you just stay 500 feet away from everything and throw your CSS/Missle of choice for 230290359205 damage per, with infinite FP.

DS1, Pyro is the definition of completely overpowered. Ds2, it's the same outside of DLC where somehow magic got the ol' nerfbat and enemies don't care about you. Which is good.

BB is really great, but I think gets more praise here because of nevereverfags. I haven't used a shield once since DeS so I was so used to rolling. The difficulty difference wasn't there for me and the superspeed of combat felt a little too easy a lot of the time.

It's been a while since I've played DeS, but Flamelurker will always have a place in my heart for how he made me tear my fucking hair out on my first playthrough when I fought him with a dragon claymore.

Favorite from DaS1 is Artorias for his combination of great music, lore, aggression and the overall fluid flow of the fight.

Favorite from DaS2 is Alonne I guess. His arena and soundtrack is god-tier, though the fight itself is kinda meh, like pretty much all the other bosses in that game.

Fav from DaS3 is probably Gael right now because I'm still riding the TRC hype and the fight itself still feels fresh and cool. But I guess other than that it's THE CHAMP for his neverending mixups and comboing martial arts.

Bloodborne is probably either Ludwig or The Orphan.
Orphan has the best fight mechanics, with his calculated counters and combo cancels in the first phase and all-out "OBJECTIVE: SURVIVE" mode in the second phase.
Ludwig is up there because of his fantastic atmosphere, lore, backstory, and how it is all tied together with the gameplay in the perfect example of what a Soulsborne boss should be. Also that cutscene.

Then i played DaS, it was trash, felt clunky, i only got to capra demon but it must have killed me like 20 times before giving up, so i just watched a LP of it.

I have a PS4 so i went for BB, the CUHRAZY combat was too edgy for me, i got to the one reborn but the atmosphere felt sickening and i haven't touched it since.
