Yeah It doesn't look like anything special. Not a fan of those mon rabbits or bowsers new get-up, made me cringe to be honest. Will wait to see more content but people are hyping up pretty average gameplay at the moment.

This is only partially true, I say this since you have new moves like the hat, the Somari spindash and this is small but doing a dash in the air gives extra height. Also we don't know the extent of this but Mario seems way more acrobatic based on him bouncing off cars, twirling on streetlamps & etc.

Where's the line for something being a rehash? I swear I see too many sequels with similar mechanics (while even adding new ones) being called a rehash now, does it need to 100% new in every single department or something to not a be a rehash at this point? This would have never happened with Mario games if Nintendo didn't rely on making NSMB (the only LITERAL rehashes in the Mario series, mind you) games a ton.

IIRC NSMB was an excuse to train new staff but it sold surprisingly well so they shat out like four more games along the same lines as their 2D Mario series for a while.
