The work required to take all the old sprites and animations of an older Disgaea game and make them HD would be better spent just making a new game entirely. People don't seem to realize just how many sprites (and characters) each Disgaea game has.

I haven't had time to play Rose yet, I heard it's longer, there's supposedly 2 chapters more. Firefly Diary took me around 9-10 hours to beat and 14 hours to 100%. I'm guessing Rose would be 15 hours if you don't bother with true ending if there's one.
