Seriously though I've purchased plenty of $50 chairs at Walmart and they last a good 3 months or so before they start to break, usually the stand they're on stops supporting the weight and they fall over.

I'm looking at the $200 chairs on Amazon but I'm not sure if they're a good investment. They all say they support up to 200 pounds but does anyone know of any that supports more? Or is 200 pounds just an estimate for these chairs?

As a 6'11" 300 lbs+ sasquatch man, I can tell you that cheap chairs do not support shit. Regardless of what they say is the weight limit. The gas cylinders are garbage and die quickly.

I ended up having to go with a Steelcase Leap Plus, it supports up to 500 lbs. It's built like a fucking tank. They retail for like $1,400 though, so find one on craigslist or something if you can. I ended up getting mine for like $600 from a refurb seller.

If you go to office depot they'll list the weight capacity for the chairs by the price. Most chairs cap at 250, but there are some for 350+. I've never had a stand break though, just arms from leaning on them like a retard trying to reach something without getting up. That said, if you get one with arms that connect in 3 spots those also won't break like that for a long time. and office depot's replacement plan is really good and pretty cheap. If you get any damage or a scuff or something stupid (even if you obviously did it yourself) they'll send you the money equivalent of the chair or a replacement. So you can either get most of your money back or a 2nd chair if you cash in on it after a few months.
