Even if that was true (which it's not) that's even worse. That would be four QTE's over a 10ish hour game with a multitude of cutscenes. There is no warning or indication a QTE is going to happen before it inexplicably does. So it's just a cheap and unfair way to kill a player just as they forget QTE's in cutscenes exist.

Witch time is a crutch. Those enemies and alfeims are preparing you for Non-Stop Infinite Climax difficulty.

Every attack has an audio cue. This doesn't happen unless an attack has a very distinct audio cue (like the trumpet guys) or the attack animation starts while the enemy is on screen.

I agree with most OP points. The game is decent but not even close to being the best cuhrazy. The level and boss design are VERY much like DmC. Also the sluggish menus - I love trying to skip a 5 second cutscene and spending 4 seconds going through the menu for it, only to have another unskippable cutscene right after, mashing, and shit being all over the screen so you can't see what's going on all fuck me off.

Nonstop doesn't feel difficult even if you restrict yourself from using continues, items, and OP weapons/accessories, but at the same time it doesn't feel balanced properly since the game was obviously built around witch time so you end up using the same few overpowering strategies.

Playing this and Bayo 2 at the same time. Really good games senpai

Is there any reason to use anything other than Umbra Climax in Bayo 2? At least in the first game there were alternative attacks to use your magic for. Anything besides umbra climax feels like a complete waste in Bayo 2. I think Bayo 1 has better balanced combat. It has its whole set of other problems though.

It's defined as the "Action" button. The one you use to interact with stuff.
Either you're performing an Action, or you're attacking with the Punch/Kick buttons.

The QTEs make sense in that regard. Their popping up instantly with little to no telegraph besides that faint blue ring when it's a timed Action QTE is shit, though.

I can see how these can be frustrating, the game is from a time where QTEs were hip and it suffers for it because they haven't aged well at all.
QTEs and combat cut-ins become much less of a problem on replays of the game and they seems to be designed to fuck your score on your first time for some reason.

While I liked fighting the large bosses, Balder and Jeanne were definitely the highlights.
Can't really remember any boss theme except Balder so you are probably right about that.

The cutscene shit was really annoying, but i've never personally experienced getting attacked off screen, and complaining about enemies having no proper queues is bullshit as the game is designed to be played multiple times. normal difficulty is for children and the game unlocks harder difficulties when you beat it.

I'd like to add that I find the combo controls to be really iffy. For instance, I don't know how many times the game counted my minor pause as a combo input, that fucking durga kick juggle fucked me many times since you can't get out of it. Also it seems like it was a terrible idea to have the panther transformation on the same button as dodge, and the crow transformation shouldn't exist period (I think you can turn this one in particular off, fortunately).

Because they are boring and not challenging while simultaneously managing to be annoyingly designed. They feel like watching a movie with some annoying mashing once in a while. For the asshole with the 2 gun arms and the asshole with the tentacle head, you just sit there pressing punch over and over. The one in the water is annoying because the dodge on the raft feels clunky compared to the rest of the game, and when you refight him on the tower you can't see what the fuck is going on because of all the fire and explosions. With the two-headed dragon, most of his attacks originate from his head and yet you can't see his heads on the ground floor. The final boss is a matter of chasing down those feather appendages down and it gets old.

I am not simplifying anything. Go fight the tentacle boss again. You can stand right in front of his face and his tentacles cannot hit you including the poison spray, it is physically out of range for them. That pretty much leaves the dick-head extension and the purple falling rocks, which are freebies to dodge and not that common by comparison. The guy with the gun arms has very slow gatling sequences that sweep across the screen and when he breaks the platform the bullets cannot hurt you at all, so you basically can stand there without any fear just beating the fucking shit out of him. If you want to count the golem, he can't even fucking attack you if you are up his asshole until he gets some new forms the 2nd time around. And, as stated earlier, the final boss is just chasing around the feather appendages and hitting them 2-3 times.

The only thing that will stick with me is when I was trying to platinum rank the dragon boss in the church and I just beat him taking no damage and then he threw the church at me and I thought it was a cutscene because it'd been a cutscene for the past three minutes. Bayonetta is a bad copy of DMC3 and I can't fathom how anyone can dispute that.

-Half of the game is made out of movie-style "on film" static images, that is just fucking pathetic and completely breaks the flow and any atmosphere it could have. It's very clear that Platinum didn't have budget/time to make proper cutscenes, and instead of cutting them and replacing it with something meaningful and worthwhile, decided to go for the worst cutscene implementation I have only ever seen in any videogame
-Overall combat system is just not as fun and polished, you can basically play with any weapon and that's not because they are all equally balanced and useful, but because there is no fucking difference between them and it just doesn't matter what you use
-The screen is constantly cluttered with visual garbage, at times it can be difficult to discern what is even happening at any given moment. DMC was pretty much always clear and you always knew what was going on with very little unnecessary visual effects
-DMC3 bosses vary from mediocre to fucking great, and the balance is pretty skewed towards the latter with only a couple of outliers. None of the Bayo bosses are really above mediocre

Camera and underwater segments are by far the most dated aspect of the game. Some people just can't get into the camera angles, fine, I can get that to an extent. First person underwater segments last maybe all but less of 5 minutes.

Combat though? Still perfectly fine and gives you all the tools required to mix things up. It's just far more direct in it's approach to combat, and enemies are far more aggressive.

Still also has the best levels, atmosphere and enemy design in the series bar none.

I've watched Kamiya's developer commentary LP of Bayo. And he said that the enemy AI programmer was obsessed with keeping the fights fair, so most enemies don't actually attack off-screen. Which can probably be exploited when you're fighting multiple enemies at once.

Call DMC music edgy and highschool all you want, I would even agree with that to an extend, but all songs felt like they belonged in the moment, appropriate for this exact game and the mood you are supposed to be on when playing it i.e. pumped.

I remember playing Bayonetta on the 360. I got lots of stones and eventually got stuck and gave up. Since then I've been able to finish the Souls games, MGR, Killer is Dead and a couple of the licensed Platinum games.
