For some strange reason, they just refuse to do anything related to the Sonic Adventure games, even though so many people want it. It really baffles me. Do they think they are to incompetent to make another one? The old staff is all gone? Are they completely out of touch with the market? I just don't know.

I think it's because the Adventure games were about a myriad of gameplay types, so they thought throwing a virtual pet game in there would be fine.
Every game afterwards has been more about one type of gameplay, so maybe they think a virtual pet game wouldn't really fit.
Also it would require more work

yeah the not having the glitch chao is a real downer
we later found out that the shiny white and other shit like transparent chao don't display properly in the hd version due to lighting/engine fuck ups.
on pc with cheat engine you can however change a chao's textures to be whatever exists in the game and it saves normally. still doesn't make up for it though.

back in the day on dreamcast there was a chao editor program for vmus where you could change them in to the baby animal chao and omochao.
crazy to think it existed.

sonic 2006 was basically sonic adventure 3 and that game can at best be described as "fun for the wrong reasons"

Real industry talk.
Sega of America and Sega Japan, are literally not on speaking terms.
To understand why you need to understand the complete division of leadership, and the completely different corporate cultures and a lot of other really boring shit that i'm just going to post here.
What's important here is how Sega Japan seems to think that the best way to deal with this situation is to just starve Sega America, the idea being that sega of america will be forced to close it's doors, and Sega of japan can then partner with a new company and renegotiate favorable terms with this new small company they'll pick.

Most notably, this is why Sega japan games havn't really been making it over to NA or europe. It's the major reason pso2 hasn't made it over, but theres a huge problem in this plan.

The problem is sonic the hedgehog. Sega of america can make their own sonic games, and despite how we all know sonic has become a laughingstock of the industry, it's still a major marketing success, the games simply still sell, and a sonic game un-ironicly is a major system seller. Now you would think this is good news for sonic fans, sonic is good and beloved, these companies are paying sega of america for sonic games, so its all perfect for sega of america.

This is not what happens however, see Sony and microsoft (and to a lesser extent nintendo) don't care if the games are good, they only care that they have sonic on the launch windows and whatever, and since Sega of america has no other real sources of revenue they are forced to CONSTANTLY be rushing sonic games out for completely arbitrary deadlines with absolutely no time for quality control or even.

Sega of america has constantly been forced to shelf and utterly destroy any attempts at a new game series by converting them into sonic the hedgehog by the higher brass. This is the sonic 06 and a lot of different failed sonic games happened in a row.

SEGA kept the Adventure formula for years after 2 with Heroes, Shadow, changing things up every so often y'know, but after 06, they halted completely.
Reviews and criticisms for Sonic were already low due to Heroes and Shadow, Sonic 06 was the nail in the coffin. "Never again" said the SEGA higher ups.
So rather than fixing the issues that the Adventure-style games had they just scrapped them completely.
