I don't know about the movie, but there's tons of drama in the manga and the novel.
Another downside of BR games is that you will never get into really shitty situation, like your starting weapon being a fucking frying pan or a walky talky.
Trying weapons to survive and dropping in almost naked is the m.o. in a lot of FPS, take unreal tournament or quake for example.

You know, calling these types of games "battle royale games" is like calling a game about boats "titanic games".

What risk? In books or movies, the risk is a character will die and paranoia and all that kicks in which leads to betrayal or an entire "team" crumbling. These are video games, you die so fucking what just queue again. The problem with that is in BR, its kids. Adrenaline kicks in, they panic and miss or have no clue how to approach a life or death situation. In this, if the first person to leave gets a gun he just kills everyone no problem. There is no panic, shakiness or anything since its a game.

and that situation basically happens already. First door you open could have jack shit or gold. Not everyone plays in the middle of nowhere, landing in towns/bases leads to alot of quick thinking moments using whatever you got while they got a bit more lucky.
