As someone who grew up with MSG 0079 and games like Federation vs Zeon and Zeonic Front, I fucking hate these new VS games.
The gameplay is ace and fun, but Gundam is supposed to be Real Robot, not Super Robot. When literally every single mobile suit in the game has fifty flannels controlled by an array of all-newtype pilots who can clear out an entire fleet with a fart, it reminds me of how far the series has strayed from its roots.

It's okay when Wing or Seed or G Gundam does it, but when a series that claims to be UC does it, it's bullshit. War is supposed to be a life-or-death struggle. It's supposed to be gritty and vicious. That all goes away when every main character gets a godmode suit that invalidates all the mooks completely.

I'm going to buy this anyways.

The thing is, Anon, that they have to make changes to account for gameplay and balance. So, obviously, to make it so Wing suits aren't way overpowered compared to OYW suits, they give them the fanciest moveset they can, even if in the TV show they only did it once. Corollary to this, moves have to be fun to use and not boring to play, otherwise no one will play the "boring" units and it'd be a waste of development time. I'm actually surprised they gave Fa a Nemo and not the Methuss since the former has absolutely no redeeming attributes and I don't even remember her piloting one.

if you watch all of Gundam, its every bit as super roboty as it can get. the only thing it removes is the monster of the week format. In fact, 70s Toei Mazinger is more of a "real robot" than Gundam. constantly banged up, needing constant upgrades and maintenance, field upgrades. I am fan of the genre but I don't like how the series are evolving.

It's all about boost management and constant dodging.
Looking at good players replays you can barely tell the difference between one unit or another, they all play in the same way aka "keep dodging until you or your target get hit".

It's no fun, I would like something a bit slower and more tactical.
