It typically heaped way too many things on you at once making it a mad rush to get to the safe room which the AI would fuck up even then since they all had to navigate jumping up a ledge then huddle in the corner possibly blocking you from getting in the safe room yourself.

I love the time aspect, if you just want to do the story you have plenty of time to get the best ending. Finding all the hidden survivors that Otis doesn't report was really neat and added replayability. You also got new costumes and weapons after beating the game if you did certain tasks, like beating the convicts or killing over 53,000 zombies

Recently replayed the game for a 100% best ending all survivors run. If you know what to do and where to go, and are max level, you will actually find yourself with long stretches of time with nothing to do. The only major gripe I have about the game (besides retarded survivor AI) is the mission for finding the bombs in the garage lumping up with the mission to get back to the photographer jack-ass.

I finished the game with every cheevo, don't talk down to me. Rank only meant your ability to deal with zombies or bosses which was easily made trivial after doing zombie genocider. It didn't help the moment you looked away from a group that a huge mob of zombies would spawn on them.

2's was a lot more exploitable. There was a book you could nab that would wipe away all their individual nuances like standing there crying or needing you to grab their hand. And the safe room was a lot more accessible needing much less pathfinding.

Man, the more I think about this game, the more I remember just how fucking good it was.

>Timer added a good challenge to try and 100% game too and made the world feel more alive

The photographer was the main reason I said heaped too many things on you. There were also the mutinies which were their own timesink trying to get through the conversations with them. Kindell and Fatso had me grinding my teeth because I had shit to do. Didn't even know the dead guy the photographer kills was even saveable till I looked it up.

Typical Canadian Gamestyle:
*use 5 colors in the game at a time on screen so it all blends together
*Make it real dark and use horrible menus for everything

It's crazy how the series went backwards in all aspects. The first game had the most features, the most consistently good graphics, the longest playtime, most content, best map and best story. With each new game, features kept on being taken out for no reason until we're left with the literally nothing DR4 that plays just like any other typical zombie game with graphics that are so inconsistent (the lighting looks good with dynamic shadows and light sources, but textures and models are shit, map is empty, some items are just textures on the wall instead of being modeled and can be picked up, etc.).

Again, once you know where to go and what to do nothing becomes an issue, including squashing the mutinies. I can understand though. Busting ass to save so many people only for them to fuck off late in the game was frustrating. Just remember it for the next playthrough and be prepared

Based on the pre-release media and interviews, I don't think they knew they were doing wrong. They're still stuck in that weird 360/PS3 era of stripping a game down to make it as casual as possible on top of having lazy as fuck features tacked on. DR4 is the Saints Row 3 of the franchise. And you just know that, being a fucking leaf, they won't admit they did anything wrong because they already had the galls to say no one would want to play DR1 and 2 these days due to the time management and psychos, which was why they were taken out in 4. Time management was also practically non-existent in 3.

They're a bunch of lazy fucks caught up in their own hubris. They think the world owes them the sales just because it's another DR game and FRANK. IS. BACK.

The canadian devs said they hated Dead rising 1 and 2. THey said they liked DR3 because it had a latino. Its no wonder this game sucked when its made by people who literally judge games based on the cover art.

It's all fun and games until you're going for some of the "Escort so many survivors" achievement before Adam shows up for the shortcut.

The AI was so bad they'd just run into the jeep's fucking line of driving. Low-level Frank was easy to die to those bastards, so much there's a part of me that still gets PTSD when I hear the "DUN NUN, DUN NUN" riff.

I thought Otis stole a helicopter and made it out with all of the survivors. At the end of the game everyone except for Frank and Isabela are listed in the live survivor count, so I assumed they lived, since the bad ending where the bomb blows everyone up lists everyone as dead.
