I figured the Dreamcast controller was shit for years until i actually bothered to try one. Absolutely fantastic controller, as dumb as it looked. Every button and trigger was solid and satisfying to use, and it's so comfortable

I don't know why you're digging your heels in really hard on this one. The Genesis was the sports game console, that's what kept it alive more than any Sonic crap. Sega's own sports games turned out to be garbage compared to EA's - the baseball one in particular was a huge letdown for people with DCs who wanted a sports game to play.

I worked at Funcoland during the time before and of the PS2 launch. Chicago area. The #1 thing any customer asked when they walked in the door was
"Y'all got dat Live?"
Look at the PS4 charts now. Normies care about sport games and nothing else. The Genesis lived on the support of sports games with normies. The DC died without it.
