You can do ports/remasters without the source code. It's been done quite a few times. You just take the code on the disc and reverse engineer it. MGS2 and 3's remasters were done this way for instance, and all of that company's remasters I'm pretty sure.

I have it on Xbox. Haven't played it too much though. I think it runs up to 60 fps so a port would be 60 fps which would be nice. The 480p resolution makes it look like shit though.
