The combat is not very deep, the stat system is fairly useless, most of Bitterblack Isle is a slog, 80 percent of the story is shit or nonexistent, and climbing a monster is a chore.

Haven't played any of those yet, but I do like Breath of Fire 4, Fallout 1 and 2, and Last Remnant's combat systems more. Hell, Nier's combat system is generally more fun and it's pretty bare bones.

Pure magic is boring as fuck though, the spells are cool the first time you see them but quickly get old. Melee and ranged classes are both fun because it's kind of a DMC lite + TPS elements. You can tell they really didn't have a good idea on how to make magic vocations engaging to play, the best it gets is summoning a cool electric whip.

I hop you're talking purely combat-wise. Even then, I'd personally give Witcher 3 the edge since I've played it on Blood and Broken Bones. At that difficutly you're forced to use all the fight mechanics the game offers you or you get rekt, which basically makes it DS light.

If you're talking overall better, I can't even begin to understand how you would justify that opinion.

The only real appeal of Dragon's Dogma is if you're one of those people who always wished RPG's played more like a proper real-time action game.

Every played a Medieval Fantasy RPG and wished somebody sprinkled a bit of Monster Hunter, a bit of Devil May Cry, and a bit of Shadow of the Colossus on the combat system? Then you'll probably like Dragon's Dogma. Because otherwise it's a pretty boilerplate game. Don't go into it thinking you'll find very interesting quests, lore or characters.

Hell yeah it does.

TW3 has one mode: big retarded flourish that does 1/14th of the enemies health, then press dodge so you don't get OHKO'd. It's literally no better than Two Worlds, and yet Two Worlds has a better (fantastic, really) magic system. There's a lot of merit to TW3 for sure, but it's absofuckinglutely not its combat.

Meanwhile DD lets you roll and parry-riposte a la Dark Souls, climb enemies and stab the fuck out of them at a thousand miles an hour, shoot four-foot-long exploding arrows five-at-a-time, shoot magical arrows that either home and crit or bounce around and screen kill, or sync up to a four-way casting of fucking tornadoes and giant ice spears, or, if all that isn't enough, or too much, there's room for good old sword-and-board, or just annihilating shit with super-charged greatsword swings.

There's something for everyone, and it's all fun, and, at least IMO, very visually appealing.

It's fun. Has amazing music that fits the moments of combat perfectly and make you feel like a badass without handing it to you. It is what you make of it. That being said it is easily my favorite game and I pray for a non rushed version because it is definitely a rushed gem.
