Easier to stretch out your thumbs than to retract them. Meaning if your default thumb position is already up, it's hard to move your thumb down to use the face buttons.

you're spending more time adjusting your camera than pushing functions these days

the most played genre is probably shooters, and hell even souls is majorly spent with right thumb on stick cus camera and targetting, attacking and defending is done on triggers, speaking of which even driving games rely on triggers instead of face buttons too

i think hackanslash is like one of the few games that are face button primary these days

so unless you only play hackanslash, why would you want your fingers to the placed asymmetrical cross the controller?
face buttons is like a relic from the past, modern games are all analog shit today
