Video games in general have pretty poor writing. Most of the time they're just cliche or rip-offs from another book/movie. Thankfully Nintendo tend to put less of an emphasis on story in their games most of the time.

I don't trust that you really know anything about what is and isn't good writing.

Japanese writing isn't supposed to be interesting or have depth like American writing. It's designed to hit tropes that Japanese people like.

anon I played PacMan and Asteroids back in the day just because they were fun. I'm not saying that Stories aren't welcome, but you are deluding yourself thinking that video games have good stories or good writing and I prefer games having simple stories simply because gameplay doesn't lose as much focus as story heavy games.

Zelda is mopey and bitchy and it frustrates people so they say that she is poorly written, but the opposite is true. She has the best arc I've seen in a video game in fucking forever.

Yeah, i love Twin Peaks. Haven't played LA. But maybe it's kind of a stretch to say they were inspired by Lynch. After all arguably thev quirkiness of the series, the weird characters and supernatural etc. aren't precisely unique per se (except obviously the lodge), it's unique how it all plays together. So i guess Zelda games could feel Lynchian without necessarily being inspired by him. Unless there's documented proof of the opposite, in which case fuck my face
