Whether that switch they did from their ignite engine to frostbite engine, to better AI where you could control two players at once and a lot of changes that do make the game better every year, some years might be a minimal change while others come with a big one.

Every time Nintendo releases a console, EA, Activision and Unisoft day this kind of shit. They release two games in a year for it, both of which are bad ports long after the game comes out for the competition, and no one buys them because they are old news and/or bad quality. Each company sees that their games aren't doing well on Nintendo's platform, so they pull out and stop supporting it entirely.
This happens every time.
I'm a nintenbro too but don't delude yourself.
Just think, these companies never feel the need to say this kind of thing about Playstation or Xbox.

Was it even possible to experience all the story stuff in the Wii U version of 3? Like did the save files assume you did all the side content of the previous games? Most of it amounted to email text and maybe some dialogue callbacks like with that dude from Project Overlord, but there were also war assets, which affects which color ending you get to choose.

Given that literally every single company so far (including major players like Capcom) said it took them a month in man hours top to port their entire engine to the Switch means there's a very good chance they'll just bite the bullet and port Frostbite over this time especially since the Switch runs ARM meaning said port would make it easier to port the engine to mobile.

Compare this to the Wii which had a 20 year old architecture, last gen graphics, and no buttons.

The quality of a console does not dictate whether or not it'll receive 3rd party support, merely the number of systems sold, as developers want access to the largest market share possible. With that said, there were quite a few good 3rd party Wii titles, but GOOD LORD WAS THERE A SLEW OF DOGSHIT.
