Mounting was fine. It was people overdoing it in 4U which made it impossible for players to get hits in that was the issue. Generations kind of fixed it with allowing players to attack while a mount is in place. But the issue is that some players just want to enjoy fighting it without mounts. So maybe limiting the number of times you can mouth would be the best choice.

I have no idea how anyone could look at 4th gen Dunes or the Hollow and go "Yeah, this is fine".
Mounting's fine, and if they keep styles than you can just go Aerial, take a bugstick or do upswing shenanigans for your mounts, but the tiny ledges everywhere and the height differences just make the game worse.
