Am I the only one who finds the accents in modern Dragon Quest localizations annoying
It would be fine for maybe one or two towns here or there, but almost every NPC in every post-8 translation has heavily accented dialogue
日本語くらい読めるようになれよ
They were fine in DQ8 PS2 because accents were voice acted and they were pretty much absent from the text as a result. It woild be fine if they took this approach in future localizations.
Am I the only one who finds the gameplay in modern Dragon Quest games annoying?
DQ7 was the first one I ever played and I made it 10 hours in before I gave the game away
accents are retarded, people dont write out their accents like that so its unnatural and difficult to follow
OI GUV MY GRANNY SEZ THAT TH' LORD O'DARKNESS BE COMING BACK T' DAE HIS EVIL WILLi like them
I like 'em, but plenty o' folk don't.

People do write out their accents.

I got bored with both Dragon Quest 7 and 8. Have no idea how these games are so popular in Japan when they are so incredibly lacking in fun.

>People don't write out their accents
Are you by any chance American or UK English?

Pure cancer

>Are you by any chance American
Are you trying to say Americans don't write out accents?

I don't like them but VII on 3ds wasn't terrible. IV-VI on ds were when it was god awful.

VII is probably the least beginner friendly game, though DQ just may not be for you. VII is my personal favorite, has a fun class system and I like journeying to new islands. If you still have interest in the series maybe try V or VIII.
