It was born for this
>>
>>376407383
Should have released it on a Nintendo console where people would have cared about it.
>>
>>376407853
Not a bad point, it does look like a little kiddy game, so it makes sense to release it on a console for little kids.

This

>first announce it for Wii U and PC
>game gets nearer completion
>actually nvm Wii U release lol here's PS4 and Xbone versions instead
>Switch release nowhere in sight

It's like the fucked up in every conceivable way possible
>>
>>376407383
devs didnt even tried to make the game, deleting JonTron proves it.
>>
>>376407980
No, we're talking about Booga-Baybee, a similar but entirely different game
>>
It's a niche singleplayer game, of course there's little talk. There was little talk about it at all times until e-celeb stuff.
>>
I can't wait for Playtonic's upcoming game, Kuell the Kangeroo's Bad Hangover. I heard it's rated M.
>>
>>376407383
Why is everyone saying Yooka-Laylee was shit? I was gonna buy this game with a new PS4. Tell me why I shouldn't.
>have played most of Banjo Kazooie and like one level of BJ2

>>
The boy is flawed
>>
>>376407717
Now I have nothing else
I won't lie to you, this game being shit would have made me pull the trigger if I actually had a gun. And I wasn't even supér hyped, just like merely hoping it was okaish. But 8 hours in and I want to kill myself for buying this shit.
>lolz killing self for a game
My whole life is shirt, not just this game but a man has limits.
>>
>>376408461
It's okay, but it severely lacks polish. The world size:content ratio is poor, the game is actually over pretty quickly despite having bigger worlds and more collectibles than the BK games. The challenges are either jokingly piss easy, or frustrating due to the shit/limited controls for nearly everything except the basic run-and-jump platforming (e.g. minigames, transformations, minecart sections).

It's worth maybe 10 bucks.

I'm just waiting for the Switch version, i want it portable tho. Also it's good to people who loved 3D platformers beforehand as far as i've been informed.
>>
Switch version when ffs?
>>
>>376407383
there's a reason these kind of platformers died out, people just thought their nostalgia was a substitute for outdated gameplay
>>
>>376410297
Or maybe, just maybe, the game did not execute it well regardless of the genre
>>
>>376407961
Banjo-Tooie took things in the wrong direction, but was still a fun game.
Yooka-Laylee took everything wrong with Banjo-Tooie and made it worse.
Kazooie had perfectly-sized levels. Tooie's levels were too big, and required too much transit. Yooka-Laylee's levels are even bigger than Tooie's, yet don't even have warp pads like Tooie did.
>>
>>376407383
ME Andromeda

Literally 0 threads anymore, and for good reason because the game was a shitty, forgettable bland piece of shiet
>>
>>376407383
Everything about it screamed Unity to me.

Like it reminded me of those proof of concept projects when Unity first became a thing. The environments in Yooka also look worse than some of them.
>>
>>376407383
100% it after a few days and don't bother talking about it because of political garbage it brought up

Fun game. Decent return to collectothons that made me feel kind of nostalgic
I'd give it an 8/10
Casino level was horrible and the flight mechanic both removed challenge from a lot of the platforming and was ass to control due to the random swaying

i thought the game was okay until i unlocked the fly anywhere move. that move completely fucking ruins the entire game. in banjo kazooie it made sense because you needed pads to activate it, and the pads were only activated later on in the level after certain requirements were met. being able to fly immediately when you start a level completely kills any platforming challenge the game had. yeah you can just ignore the move but it's so fucking lazy that they did it that way that it makes me angry.

on top of that, the energy bar is useless and does not add anything to the game at all unless you are doing a timed pagie challenge. they should have the energy bar shit disabled when you aren't in doing one of those. it's just a nuisance.
>>
>>376410873

False,
but the game is definitely not shit, /v/ kids just can't express themselves without going to one extreme or the other
>>
>>376411275
Ok so the game is just average/mediocre depending on the taste of people.

Starbound.
>Chucklefish spends several years "making" the game as slow as possible
>all the while pretending they have any semblance of a plan; when asked to show evidence of any sort of plan they censor a flow chart and pretend it's a design document
>The only attention the game gets is from people infuriated with their incompetence, and a handful of furry RPers
>Game finally comes out
>Same fundamental flaws that were present from day one are still there, but now that's all hidden behind a baby-tier story
>The majority of people who were giving the game any semblance of attention, the people complaining about it/Chucklefish, have long since given up on it
>Furry RPers don't care because all they care about is mods and such
>and then nobody ever talked about the game again
In some sick way, I miss the days of laughing at Chucklefish's incompetency. However, I guess even Chucklefish realized that the Early Access train couldn't truly last forever, and gave up too.
>>
>>376411445
You could have refunded after he left Early access just so you know
This is why EA games don't leave it.
>>
>>376410465
Yeah I should just go trade it in. I bought it physical on PS4 just in the event it wasn't that great instead of digital PC.

I can 100% BK and enjoy every moment of it. Just can't into BK2 and YL. I tried but can't just not for me
>>
>>376408013
That's pretty unforgivable too. People donated because they were told it'd be on Wii U.

Sucks but oh well, don't fund shit on Kickstarter.
>>
>>376410873
It's being shit on because it's basically the Donkey Kong 64 of the modern era minus familiarity and charm of Donkey Kong.
>>
>>376412124
but is already coming out on PC why release a CEMU edition too
>>
>>376412124
Except people had the option to get a refund if they really got mad about no Wii u version or get another version.
Why do you force this shit?
>>
>>376411965
What helped me a lot with Tooie was just saying "Fuck it" and turning all the cheats on. In the first level, you can use grenade eggs or the golden statue to open the code room, and there's a bunch of codes you can enter to give you infinite health/eggs/feathers/unlock all levels, etc... These are separate from the cheat codes you earn in game that give you stuff like like increased item capacity.

For me, having unlimited everything changed the game from a slog to a sort of whimsical exploration game. Just go anywhere you like and do anything you want, that kind of thing. Just google Banjo-Tooie Cheat Codes.

what did he mean by this?
>>
>>376412434
He wants three threads in the catalog at all times, obviously.
>>
>>376412230
We're talking about how the devs fucked up in general, not on a personal level

Fine if they offer refunds but that doesn't remove the problem of initially announcing a Wii U version then removing it before launch and not even offering it on its successor

/v/ general false flagging shitposting atmosphere makes discussing kickstarter games a painful exercise. /pol/ was just the nail in the coffin for that. Most of us who just thought it was an OKAY game dont care enough to discuss it on here for those reasons.

>Make platformer
All is good
>Add hoovering to it
It's pretty shit now with almost all challenge removed but I guess you can maybe design your way around it for certain segments
>Add flying to it
What the fuck

How can people fuck up the simplest of things.

I think the game is okay, but it could have been so much more if they focused on tight mechanics and small worlds.
>>
>>376407383
I don't like the voices. I rather enjoyed all of BK's voices. Especially that panting Kazooie does.
>haa haa haaaa
>>
A guy I work with bought this the other day.
He's the mentally handicapped guy in our store.

...make of that what you will
>>
>>376407961
I think Collectathons are just one of those things that can work, but have so many inherit pit falls that it's really easy for devs to completely ruin with a couple mistakes. Banjo-Kazzoie had some issues but all in all it's an example of the absolute peak said genre could really go. Games like Tooie or Donkey Kong 64 you'd imagine would be better games for having more content, but instead came of as bloated and unfun.

I think this is why devs don't make collectathons anymore, it has a very specific formula that if strayed too far can ruin the whole experience. Back then I would've absolutely loved a Banjo-Threeie, but looking back now, Banjo-Kazzoie seems to be one of those games that could never work with a sequel unless you just want to have a complete copy paste of what we already got.

Jokes on all the people that paid for this crap to be made in the first place.
