I like the idea of playing the character of an insecure young American college girl but she is so amazingly unlikable, annoying and all the choices are so awful, isn't how any normal human being would react, don't make much sense to me and don't seem to have any effect at all. It's like "you better pick this choice because there is only ONE RIGHT one". All other characters in this game are amazingly annoying and unlikable as well. Also as if a female like her would watch movies like Cannibal Holocaust or anything by Russ Meyer. I feel like it's written really badly which is a shame because this game could have been good. Telltale does a better job at this. Maybe it's going to change at some point and I should just try to keep on playing?

>Maybe it's going to change at some point and I should just try to keep on playing?
It doesn't really change, a lot of what you do really doesn't matter in the last chapter of the game or at all really. It's a neat little story I guess, but it's filled with holes and it's never explained why any of this is happening, where Max's powers came form, or why Chloe has to die to stop the plot tornado. The characters being unlikable continues through the whole game with some of them fluctuating between dropping all of their personality if the plot requires it or becoming even more insufferable to move the story along.

There's also a shit ton of reddit memes peppered through the whole thing.

It's called "teenagers". You would know how "teenagers" work if you didn't waste those years playing vidya in your room.
>>
>>376370406
>or why Chloe has to die to stop the plot tornado

Sure it is. Max saving her was what caused things to go all out of whack in the first place. The entire story is about accepting the fact that Chloe is meant to die, and the universe will right itself one way or the other if you keep preventing it. Which is why going back and undoing what you did puts thing back into balance.

Nothing more needs to be explained beyond that. The concept of no free lunches is an entirely standard time travel trope.

Haha yeh sure it's called TEENAGERS. That's the word now. In my book it's called pretentious, interchangeable, uninteresting, flat, badly written versions of what American teenagers are supposed to be like.
If American teens really are like this I feel terribly sorry for your country.
Teenagers can be cool and fun but what you find in this game is just cancer.

Really? Say what you want about Life is Strange but at least it's original and the railroading isn't as transparent (e.g. the crazy russians in TWD2). Once you've played one Telltale game you've played them all.

Why did Max start getting visions before she even bumped into Chloe then? Why did the universe choose a tornado to unfuck it's plans instead of just blinking them both out of existence? Why does killing Chloe fix anything when the tornado is already very real and right fucking there? Why does the universe fucking care about one highschool girl and her autistic best friend/kinda girlfriend?

>Why did Max start getting visions before she even bumped into Chloe then?
That's an entirely different subject. Where Max's powers came from is unexplained, and frankly doesn't need to be explained. If you're accepting time travel as real in this universe, pretty much anything else goes.

>Why did the universe choose a tornado to unfuck it's plans instead of just blinking them both out of existence?
Because that's how the story was written. Why NOT a tornado? It's an effective visual metaphor for Max's actions causing an imbalance in the universe.

>Why does killing Chloe fix anything when the tornado is already very real and right fucking there?
Because Max goes back and undoes everything. She never saved Chloe in the timeline of that ending, so there was never any imbalance to correct, meaning no tornado. Whether the other timeline continues to exist no matter what is getting deep into standard time travel bullshit. We see what we see.

>Why does the universe fucking care about one highschool girl and her autistic best friend/kinda girlfriend?
Why wouldn't it? Max prevented something that was supposed to happen from happening. In the game's fiction, that causes an imbalance in the timeline which has to be corrected. Again, if you're accepting time travel as existing in a universe, trying to pick apart the specific rules governing it is pointless. Nothing will ever be more ridiculous than the concept of time travel itself.

>And yet they still managed to fuck it up really hard.
No, they didn't. You're just being that fucking guy who complains that the TIME TRAVEL in [piece of media] isn't REALISTIC enough. The time travel isn't realistic enough. The time travel. Isn't realistic. The time travel. That guy.
>>
>>376368762
Except DS1 is a game, not a vn
>>
>>376372319
Maybe the issue isn't that the time travel isn't realistic and is, instead, completely nonsensical and just used as a magical force that does whatever purely because the plot says so instead of making sense within the universe or answering any questions it might bring up.

>You're just being that fucking guy who complains that the TIME TRAVEL in [piece of media] isn't REALISTIC enough.
Nah, I'm just used to it being done better. At least I'm not agonizing over whether a tornado is a visual metaphor (protip: the game's not that deep). It's a mediocre walking simulator that does a very poor job explaining how its world works or why I should care about the characters.
>>

>>
>>376373056

>>
>>376372774
Good thing that's not the case. It's perfectly consistent within the rules of its universe. The consequences of Max's meddling with life and death are explored at length during the latter part of episode three and the start of episode four. In the Life Is Strange universe, preventing someone's death requires that toll to be paid another way. It's a perfectly fine time travel concept, and Life Is Strange is far from the first piece of media to explore it.

>>376373056
>promoting fucking Star Trek of all things as an example of time travel "done right"

Now I know you're a shitposter.

Ultimately, it isn't possible to write a time travel story that can't be completely picked apart in a logical fashion. If you choose not to see the flaws in time travel stories that you like, it's because you don't want to. Likely because you enjoyed the story for other reasons than its fierce adherence to logic and realism, which is fine. Just don't pretend that the opposite isn't true.
>>
>>376373056
>At least I'm not agonizing over whether a tornado is a visual metaphor (protip: the game's not that deep)

Oh, and I forgot about this. Just fuck the fuck off. The fact that you think it's supposed to be "deep" says more about you than the writers. It's probably quite literally the most obvious thing they could have done.

Lesbians aren't a substitute for good writing, are a crutch for cute writing and anyone who thinks otherwise likes to eat honey glazed shit and is holding back the improvement of lesbian depiction in popular media by putting the most shallow and facile aspects of an entire orientation on a pedestal and calling it quality.
