where is the light coming from lol?
this game was released in 2004 yes?
i could swear bioshock 1 looks better than this
>>376361997
it pretty much does, yeah.
Apparently it's still too musk to ask 100% dynamic, realtime lighting in 2017, no matter that PC has had that stuff since '04, with pinnacle being 2007 with STALKER and stuff.
>>376362442
>pparently it's still too musk to ask 100% dynamic, realtime lighting in 2017
It is, actually.
Its incredibly intensive to compute
>>376362619
>Its incredibly intensive to compute
...yet mid-00s PCs could do it just fine in 2007-10 games with fully dynamic realtime lighting? Even with dynamic offset etc that DX11 mode enabled?
Yeah, I call bullshit + pure laziness.
>>376361997
>Bioshock 1 a complete static world
>Prey, every object has physics
you can't really compare the two
>>376362861
But prey has dynamic lights, just stand still in the lobby and you'll see how the sun changes the lighting
>>376362897
>meanwhile in 2007
>every single tree, furniture, even some buildings are made out of / break into physics controlled objects
Yeah, more bullshit excuses. Deferred shading is mid-00s tech, and feather light.
>>376363058
ONE dynamic light source for specific scenes does not justify the all flat shading that seems to rely on mere SSAO in every other indoor area.
>>376363084
>crysis posting
Will it ever stop? Theres more games in PC than just crysis ffs
>>376363262
No other title has pushed the boundaries and spec requirements as hard as it did. And very few games still appear as fresh and modern 10 years later.
>>376361724
>this is the kind of thing people have to resort to attack a game
So it must be a pretty great game then?
>>376362861
>>376363084
>>376363420
anon, PC gaming is dead, get over it.
>>376362619

BEHOLD
>>376361724
torrent where?
>>376362442
Making dynamic lighting look good is actually very difficult because they don't have any indirect illumination. Anything not directly lit will have flat lighting. The image on the left has direct lighting only while the image on the right has indirect lighting as well.
Baked lighting is superior in every way. When computers get faster we might be able to use global illumination systems like VXGI but as it stands they're just too expensive to use in real time.
The Prey devs look like they turned their ambient light up to max and didn't care about a realistic lighting setup. (baked or realtime, it doesn't matter)

why are you talking to yourself OP
>>376363606
that looks literally worse than some 2005-tier games.
>>376363595
PC's living its new golden age, mate.
>>376363987
it's been piss easy to mix dynamic and pre-baked lighting for decade(s) now, which results absolutely amazing results.
But once again, Bethesda is cutting corners where the really should not. Nothing new.

>he can't into same-fag detection

(You) need to go back.
>>376364217
Cutting corners where?
>>376361997
>>376362442
Are you fucking serious? Prey looks better than Bioshock, much better.

Does Prey have menus as sicknasty as Dishonored 2?
