It's comparable to Nintendo's Virtual Console where the games are put through an emulator which may or may not mess up the visuals. Primal as a PS2 Classic has very messed up colors compared to what it looks on an actual PS2 running Progressive Scan Mode but Dark Cloud as a PS2 Classic looks fine. Just replayed Jak II last week for old times sake and unfortunately the game doesn't hold up well, despite the series being some of my favourite platforms it has it’s flaws.

The gunplay in Jak has always been retarded and anyone who has played it knows this. The aim relies on character-relative autoaim controls which make it inaccurate and janky to play. Even though the game it facilitates gameplay quite well the best strategy is always just to jump and spam spinning shots to stunlock the enemies, no skill.

Crimson guard projectiles seem projectile-based but they are actually hitscan, after about 4 shots then instalock onto you and shoot an un-dodgeable hit. Half the game in, you've probably seen what all the enemies have to offer and defeat them in the same ways.

This game is known to be extremely difficult but it actually isn't. Most of the difficulty lies in boosting enemy numbers, enemy ai (chrisom guard undodgeable hitscans), increasing pitdrops and LACK OF CHECKPOINTS. Hub world LITERALLY serves no purpose other than to give quests and to pad the game. By far one of the most empty “open world” games I’ve ever played. Because it would also mean being able to play the games with faster processing. Even if you own the original system the games were made on, they're subject to that system's hardware. If PS4s could BC all the games of the past, they would also benefit from some emulation buffs and run much better. In all fairness, people ought to have the hindsight to consider that any game (even new ones) will most likely have a "Complete edition" or whatnot sometime down the line. Sure, it sucks having to wait to play something you might be interested in, but if there's a guarantee that said something is going to be rereleased in a year or so with all its add-ons, it only stands to reason this same thing will happen with ports made on a previous system.

Granted, so far most of the PS2 classics have been things that didn't get HD ports on PS3, either being skipped entirely or just given those emulated downloads that didn't change anything. Hell, FFX had its PS4 version made not long after the PS3 one, which was why nobody was that surprised when they did the 1.5+2.5 collection of Kingdom Hearts.
