Let's say you HYPOTHETICALLY came into a possession of a once popular game's source code, developed by a company known for suing anyone who breathes wrong in their direction.
What would be the safest way to publicly release it, with the lowest chances of it being traces back to you?
Asking for a friend.

Make a torrent with a client that protects your privacy, share the magnet link with some underground places (read: not here, not reddit, not facepunch) and upload from a place that isn't your house.
>>
Use a proxy and first post a link to it on here or something.
Most people won't bother going through the hassle to trace that back assuming it's not a huge game.

Go to some third world country and upload it from one of their third world internet cafes, because uploading it from one in a first world country means they will show up and ask the owner for a guy like you
>>
>>376298553
They can't if you're using a proxy service that isn't located in the US.
>>
>>376298476
Compromised by the government, not compromised by random $corporation looking to sue someone
>>
>>376298553
or go to a public library, browse the books for like 20 minutes, read something or pretend to, then get a computer not facing any counters or offices and upload it
>>

They most definitely can. The trick is to not do anything that's easy to trace.

>>376298616
If you have enough money as a company, you are the government.
>>
>>376298678
They most definitely can't.
There is no difference between using a proxy from a third world shithole that doesn't work with the US government or actually going there just to post something.
>>
Upload it to somewhere via public wifi or using a mobile phone's mobile hotspot thing. Preferably in a country that isn't the same as the developer.

Go to China and upload it, there's no copyright law there and they'll never teach you down. Share it on 4chan using a cheap mobile phone you destroy afterwards.

All of this is likely overkill, just don't publically announce that you have it, just upload and share it somewhere anonymously.
>>
>>376298678
>If you have enough money as a company, you are the government.
Not on Blizzard level

Couldn't you just buy some cheap tablet or phone or whatever. Go to some place with free wifi and upload it?
>>
>>376298520
> they ask for your phone

give them a phone that doesn't belong to you. Preferably someone who obviously isn't a suspect, like your dead grandma.

Also where high-soled shoes, makeup and a realistic wig when visiting the Internet cafe. So security footage won't match you at all.

FBI works with law enforcement force of choice outside of US if in concerns federal crimes and the countries have mutual agreement, which most of the NATO countries do.

Buy a brand new phone, a common but cheap one with a removable battery. In person with cash. Don't put a SIM in it. Also get a new USB drive.
Dispose of the packaging for both in a fire.
Turn off your wi-fi and any other devices when powering up the phone, or just do it somewhere where nothing incriminating is around.
Cover up the cameras on the phone and do not speak once it's on, do not use the radio.
Once the phone is set up, transfer the file to the phone using a USB drive connected to it.
Go to any place with free public wi-fi, be sure to dress inconspicuously. Try not to make eye contact with anybody there and attempt to disguise yourself. Glasses and facial hair work well. Walk differently, wear a different facial expression but don't scowl. Do not upload the file from your car, park at least three blocks away.
Upload the file from there. If the file is small enough you can do it while walking past, this is much better. Try to do it in a crowd if you can.
Immediately take the battery out of the phone once it's done and destroy it and the USB drive.
Crush down the phone without the battery in it and the USB, then dispose of the phone, the battery and the USB drive separately in different public waste bins over the course of a week or so. Going to different fast food places and ordering a take away, then dumping them off at bins in different parks is the easiest way.
Change your appearance again, but gradually so nobody close to you notices all at once. Shave your face, then get a haircut, get different glasses/sunglasses or swap to contacts if you have them. All over the course of a week or two.
Never go back to the place where you used the wi-fi again.
If you do it right, they'll never find a single trace of anything.
>>
>>376298292
Just upload it anywhere, but label it as dolphin porn, maybe put a few actual dolphin porn pictures in it to throw people off.
>>
1. Go to a cafe with free wifi and get the password.
2. Download Tails. This is necessary even though you're using a cafe's wifi because you need to mitigate browser fingerprinting.
3. Buy bitcoin. Familiarise yourself with how it works
4. Wait a few days.
5. Go sit outside in your car and connect to the cafe wifi.
6. Rent a seedbox with bitcoin.
7. Upload the source code to the seedbox over Tor and the cafe's wireless. It will take a while because Tor is shit.
8. Spread a magnet link fucking everywhere.

If you live in a country where burner phones are legal, buy one with cash, go somewhere far away from your house, turn it on, and use the wifi. No fucking around with internet cafes necessary.

One of the ways Tor got compromised (and they wrote about this on their blog), is that someone like the government can do packet inspection on the whole chain and match packet sizes and timings going from one end to the other. They don't have to know exactly what's in it, but just the patterns of how its being sent and received are enough to pinpoint you.

>>
>>376301004
If you have to use ID to buy the phone, buy the phone but DO NOT USE IT. If you back out when they ask for ID, you will incriminate yourself immediately. Some countries will not let you buy a phone, even an unlocked one, without providing personal info. As a result, your only option becomes buying a second hand phone. Which means you will have to prepare an additional disguise in advance if they can trace the phone used back to that person. Use an internet cafe to search listings for phones. The difficult part is getting in contact with them without tracing things back to yourself, if they leave a phone number it's best to use a public telephone to call it and arrange a meeting. In fact it's almost entirely your only option at that point. Try to use a payphone in an area you never go to and if you can get there by public transport, do it. Mostly because if you go by public transport it's very easy to get change with hundreds of other people's finger prints on it. It's complicated and difficult and you will probably fail, since people on public trading sites are almost always flakes. But just keep trying.

Copy content on phone/tablet.

Get to place far from your home with free wifi.

Stay at distance from actual wifi place, don't stand in there.

Upload to mega. It's shit but there's no better. If it's just raw code, github could do the trick.

Source code lets you completely read and modify the game's content. Depending on the game, it might shed light on various proprietary encryption and compression methods, among other things. Great for modders, cheaters and budding developers.

>This is some CIA-tier shit.
That's just the starter pack anon, you can go even further.

First you should disguise yourself to buy some things with your own money, and get handed cash back for it. Wear brand new leather gloves and put the cash in a ziploc bag, DO NOT TOUCH THE BILLS OR HAVE THEM OUTSIDE THE BAG MORE THAN THREE SECONDS. Pay for phone/tablet and micro SD card with this, because that's more likely to be how you can interact with the phone/tablet than a USB drive.

Disable by software and then physically sabotage everything you don't need on the phone. Take it apart, and it won't be hard to fuck up the GPS, microphone, speaker and cameras. Avoid trying to disable GSM, it's usually handled by the same chips as wifi, and you'll only kill wifi, thus you'll have to get a new one.

You should guy some specific clothes for this. Wear your most generic clothes, and get into the smallest clothing store you can find which hopefully shouldn't have cameras. If weather allows it, a coat is a must, and then, SHOES. SHOES is what gets most people spotted.

Use stock software, don't download or customize anything on the device. It should be as anonymous as possible.

Delete everything on the µSD when you're done, it's free and provides extra safety.

But honestly, if OP already has the code on his computer, he's compromised already.

>>
>>376302863
not usually, the source code of a game is binary and usually obfuscated beyond that to prevent reverse engineering.
>>
>>376302863
No. There's a one way transformation to turn source code into computer code.

Most of what makes up the code is indications to make it easier for a human working on it, and all of that is removed once it's turned into computer code, seeing how a computer doesn't need those indications. Reversing the process is possible, but only leads to messy as shit code with none of the original indication helping you understand which part of the code does what, and it'd take months to a full team to master it.

Here's what I would do

> upload it to a file sharing site from public wifi using a burner phone/whatever
> name it "Two and a Half Men season 5 episode 7"
> leave it on the Internet without telling anyone
> maybe someone else will discover it
> if not, "discover" it yourself at least 6 months later and pretend you were actually downloading Two and Half Men
> after you post that discovery on 4chan/reddit etc... so many people will download it that publisher won't bother pressing charges because tracking down who uploaded something from a year ago is near impossible and it would have spread far enough that any attempts of control would be in vain.
>>
>>376301417

This. Don't even need a burner phone just need a laptop so you can easily spoof your MAC address. If you're super paranoid just go to a public library in a nearby city. 0% chance it will be traceable back to you unless you already live in a police state like the UK where there are cameras literally everywhere (CCTV)

Solidify the Russian public's commitment to antiterror, which is the justification for many aspects of Russian foreign policy (like the US)

Russians have been pretty supportive of foreign adventurism so far, nominally because of fear of terrorism, but the reality is that Russia is a shit country that even IS hasn't bothered to target them. It makes the Russians feel very important that somebody would bother to kill some of them. The fact is that Russia does not represent the ideological West that radical Arab Islam must oppose to fill its ranks. Baltic Islamic terror has a different set of motivations that are palpably weaker because they draw on an ethnic identity and memory that doesn't really exist outside of the former SSRs

I don't believe that the false-flag allegations are true but that's not because the Kremlin is above that sort of thing or has nothing to gain from it. More likely, terror has something to gain by kicking the nest, same as they wanted to see Le Pen win

I didn't mean to come off as dismissive, Russia is undeniably powerful despite its shittiness

The cultural and emotional forces at play in the Russian population (directed or influenced by the crown, the clergy, the state and now the state media) that made it impossible to contain in the past are still going strong. It takes tragedy to keep that up and in that sense the piddling loss of what, 18 people is likely to be a huge boon to Putin going forward. It should keep this large country enraptured for a while.

I'm from Boston and while the Tsarnaev bombing did sell a lot of stickers and tee-shirts and movie tickets, I didn't really see any policy changes in the city or state or any real shift in the politic or attitude of locals (except that they felt a little more important for a while). It faded away mainly. That's probably because MA does well for itself and is comfortable with its own politic and general alignment toward openness.

>>
>>376301441
>Buy a stolen phone with stolen SIM

>>
>>376317691
But state control and corporate control are very different.

Boston bled blue and gold for as long as media demanded it, or for as long as it was cool. But there was no doctrinal/political intent behind the coverage. If there were, we would have seen a pivot toward security and suspicion that somewhat surprisingly did not happen. If anything, the local attitude went in the opposite direction.

It's easy to view both systems as sinister, but both systems have different aims and therefore are different kinds of sinister.

As someone who got legally fucked for Dead Rising 4 leaks, the answer is
>if you have windows 10/8/7 you will not make it work
>if you dont have good upload speed youre fucked
>if you have a capacity to upload greater than 50gb you will likely have to pay or resort to alternative methods, of which not secure
>if its upcoming of a title, hold onto it until the game is released, then wait 4 years and put it up somewhere like 4chan/private message (with full disclosure of it being stolen or not, this is important for many who handle such code/property)
>hold onto it and make a provate sale and let some other person handle it

Best advice i can say for dont doing it, and doing it.

I advise you carefully think about it due to my experience of getting fucked for a build, not source code, and not treading carefully
