Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" is a all-in-one fix, that works as a no-cd crack as well. It is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW fix mentioned in the guide, you can use the sh2proxy's EXE as the no-cd crack!

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

SH2-4 do not support Xinput gamepads. Either use Xpadder, a DirectInput pad, or just play with KB+M.
You can now see some decent emulator settings for SH1 as well in the guide. If the image of the game does NOT fill your entire screen in fullscreen mode, check your plugin AND GPU control panel's image scaling settings!
Also give the new PGXP emulator a shot for a lot less wobbly PS1 graphics.

If all else fails, use the new "Widescreen patch"

Once in a while, for couple days now, my quick replies have started to randomly "fail", giving a "connection error" message. It's usually remedied by doing a "normal" reply, which gives this extra window now.

That often fixes it for a while, but sometimes it throws me to the front page instead. Quite annoying.

TS was full of total detail maniacs and workaholics. They didn't stop at "good enough" phase, they overdid everything.

Because that definitely is not widescreen nor HD. The proxy should "replace" the 480p reso with whatever you've set it to use though.

What comes to the rest of the visuals...what I can say from that pic for ants, your game seems to have set EVERYTHING to lowest? Check the in-game Advanced settings, and turn 'em all back up.

you don't NEED to do it manually if you've applied the sh2proxy correctly. It does that + much more for you, automatically, permanently.

Now, don't be alarmed if the "WE COM" tunnel in front of you appears all white. It's a common bug w/ sh2proxy, and does not affect rest of the game. I got it fixed *somehow*, but hell if I can recall how.

'aight. I'd say the game's totally playable now, and having played the PC port for many years like this, no such graphical errors ever appeared anywhere else. And now that I think of it, the "fix" was a bit of double-edged sword too, and not really worth the cuts it can cause.

While at it, I've not tested the "new fix" yet, but it can have varying results. The SH3's widescreen fix worked wonders though.

Just wanting to help people and keep the fire alive.
In case it wasn't already obvious, I'm quite passionate about Silent Hill. They can be total life changers at best, great examples of high quality work at worst.

I'd like to think that there'd be people doing the same if any other major series would have faced the same fate.

No. I'm quite anti-Twitch in general, and dig my games as my personal / IRL shared experiences.

Before the copypastas and guides, I spread the SH love by sitting down people to give the start of SH1 a shot, and by lending my copies to people. It's been surprisingly entertaining to see mature people go from "pfft, what's with these graphics and controls?" to "What the FUCK is wrong with your head??" within 10 minutes. And then have many of them get equally addicted.
