As far as /v/'s taste in vidya goes I had already played a lot of the things they consider good.

Seeing as I grew up with the people who started browsing in 06, a lot of /v/'s tastes were thing we were all playing at the time, so we had just as many people disagreeing as they were agreeing.

It was only after being here so long I realized the difference in subjectivity and objectivity.

And /v/, as shitty as it is, made me realize that even though a game may feel good to play, Im probably being cheated without knowing it.

For example, I never really picked up that, WoW was really the turning point in which mmo's started to fall out of the scene. At WoW's release I thought it was incredible, and looking back now I realized that compared to other games at the time WoW's depth was shin deep.

Also, it made me realize that there are ways to analyze games besides how fun they are to play.

I don't have as much fun playing vidya anymore.

I was always a JRPG weeb, and the only difference /v/ made is that it expanded my tastes.

I used to only play Final Fantasy, Pokemon, and Tales.

Now I also play Megaten, Star Ocean, Etrian Odyssey, and many other series.

In my experience, /v/ tends to hate good games. So if I see everyone shitting on a game, I know to check that game out and possibly play it. Had moderate success so far.

To some extent yes, I used to be kind of a redditing douche who praised games like Bioshock Infinite and No Man's Sky.

I do however enjoy mostly gaming on Xbone since most non-RTS PC exclusives I'm interested in get ported these days.

I hate anime even more.

I got to try some stuff I would have never thought of picking up do disscusions on here. I wouldn't say it changed my tastes entirely but it did broaden my horizons on the games I play. Without /v/ I woulndn't have played any of the soulsborne series , persona/smt or monhun.

Yeah it somehow made me not ever play the Souls series at all which Im sure I would have otherwise enjoyed to an obsessive level.

I'm sorry, but The Witcher 3 is Literally Everything Wrong with Modern Vidya: The Game and it's no surprise that /v/ hates an open world pseudoRPG with bamham combat and handholding worse than in Skyrim.

I really enjoy the story part though and the books are nice.
