I think Windows Media Player has native ALAC support now, and why shouldn't it? It's an open-source, efficient codec. Here are some options for you.

The reason why I prefer ALAC is because it's open source, it's lossless, it's better at being streamed than FLAC, and is very efficient which makes it great for use on mobile devices.
