Why do people use population as a metric for whether a game is good or not? WoW at it's peak of 12 million players was during WotLK, which was arguably when the game started going to shit. People talk high about the expansion but leave out things like the TotC patch and the underwhelming ICC raid we were stuck with for almost a year, the first of many content droughts to come.

Also, WoW was everywhere in pop-culture. It was a complete meme game at that point the same way Minecraft is/was.

Is that why everyone rolls Horde on vanilla and TBC servers?

Alliance had bad flight paths and therefore no infrastructure so leveling as Alliance almost always sucks. You gotta travel as an organized and coordinated group or Horde will shit on you because they get around faster, have better hubs, better graveyards. Alliance does have good racials but Horde keeps up fine, and then WotF makes up for any other shortcomings of the faction because it is #1 by far. Horde was always favored.

Chromie gets corrupted and starts wrecking time all over the place, this is the last expansion for World of Warcraft.
The zones are all wibbly wobbly fucked up zones of already existing zones, they're not really connected to each other, the central hub of the expansion is the Caverns of Time.
The expansion ends with significant changes done to the timeline, like Arthas never succumbing to Frostmourne and never becoming the Lich King.
World of Warcraft 2 is set in the new timeline created by the last expansion for WoW
