Not sure what makes the other anon think Zero Evo's a possibility for either company. For the kind of niche game Zero is, paying the piper to Chara-ani/Pyramid/Kadokawa for VA alone wrecks any sizable profit margin or maybe even hopes of breaking even. And XSEED commissioning these ports is a clear sign that they're doing what they can to hold onto Trails by striking a better offer (based on localization experience and now multiple platforms) to Falcom. There's also no way Falcom knew about the Cold Steel ports when XSEED made their bid...they actually could have gotten Ys VIII if they perhaps had examples of a Falcom PC port to show. Tokyo Xanadu went to Aksys well before any of this for that matter, since XSEED was in the middle of localizing games like Story of Seasons and Fate/Extella.

It's one thing to not like XSEED, but NISA's wouldn't handle Kiseki any better (other than maybe dual-voice, but there's no sure way to know (until XSEED announces Cold Steel III) whether or not Falcom made new VA contracts in 2016 which helped Aksys and NISA get Japanese voices).

IDK, Anelace's Door was rather predictable stuff. At least it gives you a great reward. Reading between the lines in Kloe's Moon Door proved a lot more engaging even with some filler humor provided by the Lechter chase. I also like that the academy's just the backdrop for drama/development, not the focus like in FC Chapter 2.

Cold Steel I feel has better character interactions since most of the cast is around your party and it leaves a lot more room for character interaction. Individual character arcs are however somewhat barebones in comparison to sky, aside from a few handful of characters. Locking some important character conversations behind limited bonding events, at least in the first playthrough, wasn't the smartest decision either.

Still, I very much enjoyed it.
