Why does /v/ no like Bioshock Infinite?

I played for one hour now and am very impressed, although I can already tell that it's going to be a SJW game
>>
dude racism lmao

>>
>>376215921
I missed the hype of Bioshock 1 and 2 and by the time I played them I wasn't that impressed. Played Infinite at release and fucking loved it.
>>
>>376215921
>played for an hour

There's your problem. By the time you make it to the ghost boss, you should be thoroughly tired of it
>>
>>376215921

City in the Sky was a retarded idea, should have just stuck with Rapture. Maybe a prequel to the original set during the Rapture Civil War.
>>
>>376215921
Actually no, niggers are portrayed as the bad guys too. SJWs hated it.
>>
>>376215921

Keep playing it. I too was lured in by the first hour.
>>
>>376215921
garbage story

nice graphics though
>>
It's a good game it's not a good bioshock game
>>
>>376215921
It's ok, it's a standard shooting game. The worst thing about it is the lack of alternative endings.
>>
>>376215921

I enjoyed the first hour as well. Then it went downhill after that.

I never got the same immersion I got from Bioshock 1 or 2. I felt like my hand was being held for a lot of the game and I never get that sense of creepiness I got from the earlier ones.
>>
>>376215921
Impressed by what?
The two weapon limit?
The shitty linear levels?
The invicible dispenser companion?
The pretentious garbage story?
>>
>>376216876
City in the sky was fine
but then they had to tie everything to Rapture anyway and even set the DLCs in it
>>
>>376215921
>Bioshock 2 greatly improved Bioshock 1's gameplay
>Was maligned for being a quick cash-in

>Bioshock Infinite stripped away or simplified all of Bioshock 2's improvements
>Was critically praised
>>
>>376215921
>I played for one hour now and am very impressed
Makes sense, the first hour is god tier, then it suddenly becomes pure garbage until the end.
>>
it's dumbed down from Bioshock, only 2 weapons limit, regen shields, more linear design and such.

However Bioshock was always dumbed down System Shock 2
>>
>>376215921
The racism plot will be dropped rather quickly.

It just isn't a good game. Why is Elizabeth even there?
>>
>>376215921
Gameplay was a stepdown, Story was an even bigger stepdown. That's all there really is to it. Maybe if we had gotten something closer to this it might have been received better.

Wauifuism
>>
>>376215921
It's the epitome of story driven fps shovelware
>>
>>376217120
This. It's the most boring FPS game of the 7th generation. There is no exploration. The weapon limit is retarded. Most weapons are pointless since you can beat the game with the ones that you get in the 1st hour. The plasmids(vigors) are useless and don't enhance the gameplay in any way. You can't interact with the world at all.
Honestly, Infinite doesn't deserve the -shock in the title.
>>
>>376217093
But that's a positive thing, those dual choices morality systems are hogwash. Dishonored can also go fuck itself with the mother theresa vs worse than hitler retardd bullshit.
>>
>>376217148
Bioshock Two didn't have a Disney princess companion all the numales fawned over despite her character making no sense for the situation she was in. How does someone who has had no human interaction be so well adjusted to the outside world and be able to act normal around other people. She even said her only real interaction with anything was Songbird that's giant bird man thing. Also if she could pick locks so easily how come she never escaped from the tower or even walk around the inside of it to discover she was being watched by the people who kept her there? Simply reading up on lock picking doesn't mean you can do it.
>>
>>376215921

The second half of the game is basically an episode of Rick and Morty that takes itself way too seriously. That's why.
>>
>>376217148
Bioshock 2 needs to be knocked down a notch or two around here.

The respawning waves of enemies/escort sections to get adam was terrible, and so was making the player character a big daddy that is mechanically the same as the human of the first game. Also the game is filled with just bigger variations of existing enemies, you got a "bigger splicer" that is a meat shield, then the big sisters, who aren't physically imposing but they do feel like big daddies with more HP. Also story feels like an asspull of the so smart lady suddenly everywhere.

it is hardly as amazing as people making it seem here.
>>
>>376215921
It will forever be a pale imitation of its far better made and better written predecessors.
>>
The main issues are:
>1. Poor level design (very linear)
>2. Nonsense story

People praising this game pretty much 100% like the "wow so deep" story, but are just idiots.
>>
>people now like Bioshock Infinite

What the fuck. It's vastly overrated. The only thing the game did right was setting. Even then, Bioshock 1 & 2 did a better job at that
>>
The series is really great at world building, but everything else is meh for 2 and infinite. I have more fun in just exploring and wandering than the combat and gameplay, which is kind of a big red flag.

I don't like any of the Bioshocks. They're slow, easy, they have stiff animations and I'm not a fan of the art style, listening to tape recordings bores me, the stories feel contrived and unnecessary, combat is simple, level design is simple, the hacking mini games are never really fun. They just kind of suck and I'll never understand why everyone sucks this series' dick even the first game.

I might have liked Infinite more if I could have killed Elizabeth myself to let off steam. They did the same mistake they always do with invulnerable NPCs: Make them annoying and bitchy as fuck safe in the knowledge you can't do anything about it.

It's the "Bethesda Children Problem" I call it, since all Children in Bethesda games are as annoying and awful as possible since you can't normally do anything about them. If you could they would get killed pretty much all the time.

Infinite wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't as good as 1 or 2, both for gameplay and thematic reasons.

My primary complaints about infintie compared with 1/2:
- Limited inventory space, what the fuck
- Columbia is not nearly as interesting as Rapture, visually/graphially speaking
- Additionally, Columbia's backstory is boring compared to rapture. Rapture had philosopical and economic shit; Columbia had "lol racism!!!!" such played out shit. I think Levine wanted some of that race pandering money, but he fucked up that plan by having the revolutionaries become too violent.
- Enemies in infinite are fucking sponges

Still it's not bad, just not as good.

>>
gameplay is very generic
trying to pull a 2deep4u but failed and ended up with a mess of a story with ass pulls and obvious last minute rewrites. the alternate timeline bullshit is a writer's crutch to basically make anything happen when you have written yourself into a corner
>>
>>376220857
I think he meant the two weapon limit. None of the Bioshocks had an inventory system.
>>
>>376216871
yeh, was fun until the ghost boss. all the bioshock games eventually fall into the combat becoming boring and sameish enemy waves after awhile.

the whole rail system doesn't really spice it up until the final area either. I did enjoy the final horde fight more than bioshock 2s atleast.
>>
>>376221070
Bioshock 1 and 2 at least had medpacks and evos. Shame they lost the nice space based inventory system from System Shock 2.
>>
>>376221215
Not even, the game was an annoying chore of bad gameplay and worse writing even before you got to the ghost boss, although that part was probably what shined the hardest of how awful it is. On the third fight I just used a sniper rifle and shot her from outside her AI radius.
>>
>>376215921
The ending that everyone applauds as one of the best ever is actually just a shitty cutscene
>>
>although I can already tell that it's going to be a SJW game

>>
The originals trailers made it look good then the game actually came out and was completely changed for the worse. Very, very disappointing game.
>>
>>376215921
I genuinely enjoyed what it was, but the review scores it got were genuinely too high. I know people complained about the gameplay being dumbed down from what they promised us, but it was still fun, shooty bang bang nonsense. Also, as much as i loved the setting, it was beautiful, i think it was too underutilised and they could have added a lot more areas like that museum of that battle you visit. All in all, i'd say looking back, it's a solid 7/10 for me. It's not as good as the first game, that's for sure.

>>
>>376221925
I've played plenty of bad games, like shitty NES ones. Bioshock Infinite transcends just badness though in a variety of ways. For the first thing it was a step down from previous games in every single way. They could have done nothing and still had a mechanically superior game. They actually worked to make the game worse.

What really catapults it from just being Bad to the worst ever though is the writing and plot. In addition to being internally inconsistent, it went out of its way to be annoying and dumb as possible and then succeeded for all the wrong reasons.
>>
>>376222216
Nothing like murdering everyone on the street before that scene.
>>
>>376222329
You have a right to your opinions, but as much as the game is inconsistent, there isn't anything about it that can be considered the worst game ever. It works, and it's perfectly playable, and plays well. It's not as good as the first two games? Okay, but that doesn't automatically make is complete garbage. The story isn't great, but if you're going to judge a game mainly on it's story, you're a fucking moron.
>>
>>376221702

Booker and Elisabeth are two of the stupidest videogame protagonists I've ever seen.

Within fifteen minutes Booker discovers his birthmark is demonized on Columbia but does nothing to cover it up.

Booker also ignores the warnings of his employers at the carnival and let's himself get roped up as a volunteer despite coming to the city for a fucking kidnapping and also despite his very visible birthmark.

Elizabeth has the power to warp time and space. She's demonstrated the ability to do this while locked in a chamber specifically designed to prevent her from doing it. She's also shown she can attach her portals to moving objects like elevators, and she claims that in the past she's disappeared into her portals for hours before getting bored and coming home. Literally the first fucking portal we see her open leads to Paris, which she pulls open inside her anti-portal chamber and without needing a pre-existing tear in space-time.

Booker tricks her into coming with him by saying he'll bring her to Paris. She's genuinely stunned by this. Elisabeth hasn't a fucking clue how to get there.

They do other stupid shit throughout the game, but these are especially memorable because they happen right at the start.
>>
>>376222757
My heart goes out to those who actually bought it. I felt robbed pirating it, I can only imaging the agony of actually spending money on it.

>>
>>376215921

Everyone else will do a fine job discussing the generic, trashy gameplay, so I'm going to talk about the shitty story.

I think the quote from the devs goes "I like to make games that make me feel retarded." This is apparently not a difficult challenge. The game constantly backtracks on the transdimensional rules it sets. Pull out a pad of paper and keep playing, OP. Every time you shift worlds, keep track of it with a Back to the Future timeline chart, and track your "objective" in each timeline. Virtually all of the game is about doing favors for people in timelines they aren't a part of, helping kill people because their alternate universe counterpart did something mean to you, or something similar.
>>
>>376215921
The gameplay is entirely different.
The story is crazy heavy handed
The portrayal of religious people as racist and stupid goes against the point they are trying to make
>>
>>376223170

Columbia, as the name suggests, was an American city. It just went rogue eventually, and, being an abomination to the laws of physics that distributes super-powers in a vending machine, the US decided it was better to just say "they're not with us any more, sorry guys" to the rest of the world as Columbia flew around killing Chinese peasants.

I think it's a great game. But, many don't like it because it's so different from the previous games and they feel limited by the two weapon limit. The story is fun and I like how it presents extremism both religious and communist. Honestly, the main themes of the game are extremism and not accepting your faults..

You call it an SJW game, but it's set in 30's America. Racism was so bad then. And even, spoiler alert, the slaves' rebellion is shown in a negative light when they start killing innocent children.
>>
Bioshock Infinite became something like The Force Awakens, a thing that is cool to hate on and it really gets tiring. We get it, it's the worst thing ever, move on, it's been 4 years.

I didn't even like Infinite that much, the gameplay was dull, Elizabeth was likeable (muh bad writing), the story was okay (muh plotholes). Nothing special, but I don't get why everyone is so triggered by it.
