I used to use teamspeak but there was a new problem every week with hosting a server so I just use discord now

teamspeak servers are a pain in the ass to host and if you just join some random server it's full of randoms anyways.

it's shit. every time some anon advertises his shitty discord it's a bunch of traps, tripfags, and lonely faggots circlejerking each other off. if you use this shit service, kill yourself

The best use for it (other than having a small server with friends) is keeping up with online communities for niche games.

I always was a teamspeak fag and still kinda am, but Discord isn't bad at all. Essentially it's just a modernized alternative with some good ideas on top of that. Permanent text channels make it a pretty nice tool to organize your guild or other communities like that, without relying on a forum or other shit. And it's free.

It completely replaced teamspeak for my guild, even though I still have a ts server that I use with a few friends on the side. Just keep it private and don't join cancer ridden public servers and it's a fantastic tool.

Not true, they can scan any incoming traffic and it's pretty easy to determine where's porn and not. Besides there's loads of snitches on Discord, why should I get my shit disabled because some religious fag or the advertisers Discord sells data to doesn't like porn?

Any public server you can find is 99% guarantee to be filled with complete shitsucking retards.
I prefer Mumble myself, but discord is a good option if you have IRL friends who just want something that "just werks"

In game voice chat can be complete shit, though. Often it's low quality and even some games with a fucking party system only feature voice when you're actually in the game, total radio silence between playing. It sucks for when you're playing with people you actually know. I've barely used Discord, but I'm gonna be more. Tired of what I mentioned above when I'm trying to play BF1 with my brother and my friends and too many people format their Teamspeaks like shit to where you can't join certain channels or something. Can just set up my own personal Discord server for free in two minutes and bam, voice chat.
